There was only one thought running through Mina's head at the moment.

This was a bad idea.

Her hair was plastered to her face by the pounding onslaught of heavy rain. Every inch of her body was freezing cold and soaked with rainwater. Mina shivered ominously, left all alone and completely at the mercy of the daunting storm overhead. Water from the dark sky fell like bullets, getting into her eyes and dripping off her nose. By now, Mina was sure of the fact that she would be sick the following day. Unfortunately, she was still far from her dormitory and would have to endure the thick, unforgiving downpour for quite some time. The dank, narrow street was dimly lit by the rare streetlight here and there, but most of the light came from the moon itself. Mina jumped in fright as a streak of lightning flashed above her and the booming sounds of thunder rang loudly in her ears. Of course, she instantly regretted the impulsive decisions she had made just a few hours ago.

To put it simply, Mina felt stressed. Their work schedule was packed with task after task, leaving her with absolutely no time to relax and collect herself. There was too much to be done in such a short amount of time. Mina felt constricted by her own lifestyle, and she knew that her members did too. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy what she did. Mina loved her job, as she had always dreamed of performing onstage. However, she was sometimes far too overworked for her  own good, leaving her feeling confused and conflicted. Mina now had trouble sleeping, often finding herself becoming far more restless than usual. And yet, she didn't know what to do about it.

Not long ago, Mina woke during the early hours of morning. She gave the clock a quick glance and noted that it was only 2 a.m. The constrained, trapped feeling that haunted her to no end proved to be far too much tonight, and thus, she decided to sneak out and take a walk along the city streets.   At 2 a.m.   With nothing.   Alone.

Now, Mina realized just how badly the stress had clouded her judgement, as she would never make that decision with a calm, poised mind. She wouldn't have stepped foot outside if she knew there would be a storm this bad at this hour. Flinching at another loud crash of thunder, Mina shivered even more, freezing from head to toe. The sound of thunder ricocheted through her head, ringing again in her ears. Her sopping wet shoe caught on a ridge in the sidewalk and she tumbled to the ground, falling hard on the stone cold concrete below her.

Just when she thought it couldn't get any worse, a tingling sensation in her hand caused her to look down, immediately noticing a gash along her wrist, blood seeping out and mixing with rainwater. It stung badly as Mina gritted her teeth and hauled herself to her feet. Trudging forward, she vowed never to do this again. Her head still ringing, Mina trudged forward miserably. A few seconds later, she stopped in her tracks when she heard a small sound being emitted from behind a building. What was that?

At first, she thought she had imagined it, yet there it was again. A sad, feeble, and absolutely frightened sound. Inching cautiously into the alleyway, Mina followed the cries to a small, creaky and abandoned staircase. The wooden structure only had three steps and led to an elevated door at the side of the building. At this point, the sad sound was loud and distinct, as the rain slowed down to a light drizzle. The bulk of the storm withered away, and although she was still completely wet, the dark clouds above her were finally releasing rain at a normal amount.

Mina didn't care for getting wet anymore, as she was already drenched with water. She wiped the sopping wet hair out of her face and knelt on the wet pavement, ducking down to peer underneath the staircase. To her surprise, a tiny, black kitten was curled in on itself, terrified and just as drenched as Mina herself. It looked up at her with wet, bright blue eyes and Mina felt her heart melt. The poor thing was all alone and cold from prolonged exposure to the rain. Furthermore, it seemed to be stuck behind a stray plank of wood and couldn't escape. In a way, Mina identified with the kitten as it cried out loudly once more. She stuck her hand out and tried to reach the kitten, but fell short.
