For the twentieth time that afternoon, Mina felt the familiar buzz of her phone in her pocket. Struggling to pull it out from the restraint of her seat-belt, she twisted and wriggled on the spot. Currently, she sat alone in the back of a van that would transfer her to their next scheduled event. Her fellow members had yet to join her, as they were typically slower. With a sigh of triumph, Mina finally freed her phone from her pocket and the screen flashed to life. Once again, she was met with a constant stream of happy little pictures from Jimin.
Throughout her entire morning, she had been heavily supplied with snapshots of Minmin, Jimin, and his friends, as they played together after their video call. Mina smiled to herself as she swiped her finger across the screen, scrolling through picture after picture. The latest one was obviously taken by Jimin himself, as he took a selfie with Taehyung and Minmin in the background.
Making a peace sign with his fingers, Jimin stood grinning next to Taehyung, who was wrapped in a bundle of blankets with Minmin. They appeared to be in the midst of watching a movie, and for a brief moment, a pang of longing rose in Mina's chest. How she wished she could do the same and relax in the comfort of her own home. But sadly, she still had a long day ahead of her. A long week. A long month. No, more like a long year. Mina didn't allow herself to consider anything longer than that.
With a sudden lurch, the van tilted to one side and Mina was forced to drop her phone in an attempt to prevent herself from falling. Gasping and turning her head towards the car door, Mina found the perpetrator. Her fellow members were finally ready to join her. They piled on one by one, but Sana, being her usual bubbly self, had jumped into the van, rather than stepping on like a normal person. Giggling at Mina's disheveled figure, Sana picked up the fallen phone and sat down next to her. "Sorry," Sana chuckled as she held out Mina's phone. She was about to return it to the owner, but not before she caught a glimpse of the picture on the screen. Emitting a tiny gasp, she pulled the phone closer and peered at the snapshot.
"That reminds me," Sana began, capturing the attention of the other seven girls. "Mina has something to tell us... Don't you Mina?" The last part was deliberately pointed at Mina herself.
"What's up?" Jihyo smiled. Mina felt frozen. It wasn't that she didn't want to tell them. She was just startled, not knowing where to start off.
"W-Well... I made new friends?" She tried, shrugging sheepishly. Sana snorted.
"I was talking about the kitty, not your "new friends". All I want is the cat!" Sana blabbered on with sparkles in her eyes. Mina shook her head affectionately. She knew Sana was a sucker for cute things.
"New friends?" Jeongyeon asked, "I feel very confused right now."
"Yeah, spit it out, Mina." Nayeon smiled, waiting for further elaboration. "What cat?"
"It's nothing important." Mina assured them. An excited Sana cooed over the little kitten in the picture. Happily, she held out the phone for everyone else to take a peek at the two guys cradling the little cat.
"Look! So cute!" she exclaimed.
To say that the others were startled would be a severe understatement.
"W-wait! What? You- Mina?! How?!" Jihyo stuttered.
"Isn't it adorable?" Sana gushed.
"I-I mean, sure, they're relatively attractive, but-"
"What? No!" Sana blushed. "Not the guys, the kitty!"
Mina had to chuckle. She knew Sana's pure heart only had room for the adorable furball. At least for now.
