Jimin let out a sigh of great content. Looking around him, he thought that he had never been happier. Mina lay curled up beside him on the couch, sleeping soundly beneath a blanket with Minmin dozing off on top of her. Taehyung and Sana were quietly chatting amongst themselves on the other side of the sofa. Pretty perfect if you ask him.

After he'd asked the girls to stay, they all amused themselves with a fun, friendly night; something that none of them ever really got to have. They played board games, talked about their lives, ate food, and lastly, settled down on the sofa for a movie. Mina had fallen asleep halfway and slowly began to teeter sideways, which also happened to be where Jimin sat. Electricity seemed to course through his body at the initial touch of her head to his shoulder. She was mostly on the sofa and the tip of her head just barely brushed against him, yet he still felt his skin tingle despite his protesting mind. He had pulled a blanket over her sleeping figure and simply let her stay there. Jimin knew it would possibly be awkward when she eventually woke up, but for now, he chose to cherish the calm, picture-perfect moment. That is, until Sana broke the silence with a yelp.

She shrieked, eyes widening as she grasped Taehyung's wrist. The shrill, strangled sound startled Mina and the kitten enough to send her toppling to the floor. As she emerged from the blankets with the help of Jimin's outstretched hand, Mina's face was already starting to redden.

"What's wrong?" Taehyung's eyes were riddled with concern and confusion. They were simply exchanging numbers with each other when she seemed to panic.

"The time. That can't be possible. Can it?" Sana looked worriedly around for a clock.

"It's 4:47... in the morning." Jimin replied, checking his phone. As he read the time out loud, he began to realize what was wrong.

"We have to leave, now!" Mina concluded, saying what the others didn't want to acknowledge. "Our managers arrive at the dorms at 5:30 the latest! They can't find out we've been here!"

In a frenzy, the two girls grabbed their things and got ready by the door. In such a rush, the girls almost forgot what they came here for; the cat. Minmin seemed puzzled as to why she was being stuffed in a cage, but complied after seeing that it was Mina who carried her. They said their hurried goodbyes and left in a flash, leaving Jimin and Taehyung in a room that seemed much lonelier than it used to be. It took a while to re-orient themselves, then get back to their regular schedule.

They grappled for as many hours of remedial sleep as they could, but it was hard to keep the girls out of their minds. Jimin had been checking his phone every 5 minutes for the past 4 hours, waiting for some kind of reply or indication from Mina. He needed to know if they made it back in time. If they were caught, Taehyung and Jimin were surely in trouble too.

Taehyung had long given up pacing the room and collapsed tiredly back on the couch. After a few moments of silence, he spoke up. "You know, I've been thinking about something recently."

"What, about Sana?" Jimin asked.

"What?! No! I mean yes! But no! Not about her. Actually she was the one who helped me out with this."

Jimin simply raised a confused eyebrow.

"So, I was talking to Sana earlier about how we got Min-ie and how everything went down. I told her about the pet store too, and remember how I didn't want to leave?"

"Yeah, but that was to be expected." Jimin retorted.

"Well, it was because I found this dog I really liked. Remember?"

Jimin thought back to that day and could vaguely picture a black and brown puppy that had Taehyung wrapped around its little paws. He could recall how the changing colors of its fur created the illusion of the most adorable eyebrows. "Yeah. What about it?"

"I'm thinking about adopting it."

"What?!"

"Yeah. I think I'm ready for it. We have Min-ie, Jin has the sugar gliders, Suga has Holly, and... Well, everyone has pets. Sana says if I miss him so much, I should adopt him. It'll make both of us happy."

Jimin thought about this for a bit. Actually, a pet would probably be good for Taehyung. Pets were character-builders.

"I think it's a great idea."

"Really?" Taehyung couldn't believe it. "Yes!' He bolted for the door, wallet in hand.

"Wait, what?" Jimin was startled by the spontaneous nature of it all. "Now?"

"Of course!"

To his astonishment, Jimin found himself once again sprawled out on the sofa two hours later, but this time, with a  brand-new puppy. He was still trying to process it all. Now, there was two of everything they bought for Minmin; two beds, two sets of toys, two food bowls.

"Tan-ie! Sit!" Taehyung commanded, trying to teach the dog different tricks. It didn't work. Yeontan, affectionately named by Taehyung just a few moments earlier, simply chose to run off in the other direction, with his little tongue sticking happily out of his mouth. "No wait, come back!" Taehyung stumbled after the puppy, evoking genuine laughter from Jimin.

As Yeontan was being chased down, the ringtone finally sounded on Jimin's phone. In a flash, the screen was in front of his face, and sure enough, it was Mina. Yanking the phone to his ear, he accepted the call.

"Hello?" a soft voice called out.

"Mina..." Jimin exhaled.

"Hey," she replied. " I just wanted to let you know that we made it back before anyone noticed. Sorry I couldn't call earlier, it's been a busy day. -That is, if you wanted to know." Mina began to ramble. "Sorry again, this must be a bad time and you probably don't want to hear-"

"No!" Jimin tried to assure her. Say something, now or never. "Um, actually... I've been waiting all day to know if you - you guys - are okay." Jimin facepalmed himself as his nerves got the better of him. He messed up. Mina, however, didn't seem to mind at all.

"You... You did?"

He thought for a moment, then slowly spoke up.

"Of course I did... It's you."

Jimin heard a small intake of breath on the other end of the line, and he knew he'd scored bonus points for adding those words. He waited for a response, but none came. After a prolonged period of awkward silence, Mina cleared her throat.

"Uh, thanks... Anyways, Minmin's doing great here and everyone absolutely adores her-..."

Jimin chuckled to himself as Mina began to fill him in on how the kitten was faring. However, he couldn't help but return to his own thoughts. She had avoided his words by changing the subject. He should have been disappointed, as he finally worked up the courage to make a move. But, he couldn't help but find it adorable instead.

     This was Mina.

     Shy, sweet, and kind, Mina.

He knew it would take both time and effort to reach her, but Jimin decided that he wouldn't have it any other way.

"What's so funny?" Mina asked, obviously confused at the chuckling that escaped his mouth.

"Oh, nothing." Jimin smiled. He laid back, knowing that they could talk for hours. And so they did. Mina made him feel comfortable and happy. She was a wonderful person to have as a friend. But by the time he pressed "End Call" in the early hours of morning, he knew he wanted to change that for the better.
