Jimin rolled around, smiling. For once, he spared a glance at the time. 11:30. Oh dear... He'd just spent the last 3 hours on his phone, texting pictures of Minmin to Mina, his newfound texting buddy. Sighing, he put his phone down beside him and reached over to tickle their kitty behind the ears. He was currently sprawled on the living room couch with Taehyung, watching a movie together in their spare time. Minmin sat between them, purring contentedly.
Their promotional time was over, and so, they had quite a bit of time to themselves. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Mina and her friends. She constantly apologized for not being able to read his messages from time to time. He knew she was burnt out from all the work piling on top of her. Jimin wanted to help, but there was not much he could do. TWICE had to be one of the most hard-working groups in the industry, and their schedules were packed.
His phone flashed, and for a second, nervous excitement flared in his chest. Had she responded? He yanked the phone up to his face, only to have that hopeful flare dwindle with disappointment. It wasn't her; his phone was merely low on battery. He groaned and flopped back down on the couch.
"You're still texting her?" A voice teased.
Jimin jolted upwards in surprise. He'd been so deep in thought, he'd forgotten Taehyung was in the room with him. "Uh, maybe?"
Taehyung snorted. "You know, I never thought the day would come. You like her, don't you?"
Jimin felt his face colour. "I-I don't know?" He shrugged. "M-Maybe- So what if I do?"
"Oh nothing," Taehyung grinned. "You just seem awfully close to her already. It's only been a few weeks and you're completely nuts." He paused to shove more popcorn in his mouth. "You know, I always thought it would be years until this happens."
"I-we, we're not that close yet." Jimin protested, hoping that Taehyung didn't pick up on the regret laced into his words. In reality, he'd tried countless times to engage in deeper conversation with her, but he chickened out every time. He hadn't progressed past the usual 'How was your day?' and 'Min-ie misses you!'. Instead, he resorted to pictures, and thus, the need for words was then forfeited.
"Not close?" Taehyung raised an apprehensive eyebrow. "Dude, you pretended you guys were married when we video-called her. Min-ie was your "child". I don't know about you, but I would be absolutely horrified if I did that with a girl I'd just met. It's kinda... I don't know... forward."
"I-I did?" Jimin stuttered, trying to recall their past conversation. Oh right. Jimin felt intense heat rush madly to his face as he re-lived their exact exchange. At the time, he was just joking around with a friend. Did he really imply that they were... together? Ugh. Jimin didn't know how to get rid of such extreme embarrassment. But thinking back, Mina didn't really seem to mind either.
Minmin chose that moment to crawl onto his lap, taking interest in one of the buttons on his shirt. Jimin sighed and let go of all the tension built up in his frame. He reached forward to softly pet her on the head, letting his mind wander. Jimin knew that the amount of work Mina had was taking a heavy toll on both her physical and mental health. He too had been in that position countless times before. That was why he sent her a seemingly unnecessary amount of pictures. Yes, he wanted to talk to her, to get to know her. But most importantly, he wanted her to be happy. He constantly wondered what he could do to encourage her; to help her. But for now, he'd keep trying, little by little.
Just as he was about to doze off, a resounding crash rang through the halls. A distant "I'm okay!" followed. Minmin hopped off to investigate. Jimin only smiled and shook his head. It was surely just RM accidentally breaking his chair for the thousandth time.
"You good?" Jimin called, just to make sure.
"Yeah! I'm just-Oh, hello there ~!"
Jimin chuckled to himself. Minmin must've entered his room. He was surprised how quickly his members had warmed up to the cat. Even Suga, who didn't care much for anything, empathized with the kitty. They could be found sleeping together late at night, with Minmin sprawled over Suga's stomach. Even now, Jimin could hear RM's happy footsteps lumbering towards him with Minmin in his arms. As he turned around the corner, he softly lowered the kitty into its bed... Then promptly tripped over the litter box, cracking it in half and spraying pieces of litter all over the living room. The loud commotion drew everyone to the room, their eyes begging for it all to be an illusion.
"Uh... Oops." RM smiled sheepishly from his spot on the floor. Groaning, everyone else set to work, too used to the dangers of living with someone so prone to accidents. Jungkook, however, lingered at the site.
"Hey guys," He started, amassing the attention of everyone else. "We should get Min-ie better things. I mean, these are from the convenience store. And since we need to buy a new litter box anyways, why not?"
A murmur of agreement spread throughout the group. "Okay, go have fun," Suga said. "I'm going back to sleep."
"Me! I'm going! I want to come! It's been so long since we last went to a pet store." Taehyung reasoned. He was likely going to have to be physically dragged away from all the cute animals.
"I should probably go with you guys. Because... Well, it's obvious." Jimin added.
"You guys go ahead, I need to buy groceries." Jin volunteered. "The fridge has been emptying out way faster than usual these days."
"Whoops." Jungkook whispered in J-Hope's ear, causing him to snicker out loud.
"Hey, you're coming with me!" Jin called. "I need help carrying food to feed seven hungry people."
"Alright," J-Hope sighed with exasperation and left the room to get ready.
"I'll be here... Cleaning up." RM groaned, dejectedly holding onto the vacuum.
Half an hour later, Jimin found himself in the loudest store he'd ever visited. Dogs barked, cats meowed, birds chirped and squawked. In other words, it was hectic. Taehyung was long gone, probably off to meet every animal in the store. And so, Jimin and Jungkook set off to grab what they needed.
He didn't know so many options of everything existed. The two of them browsed the store amicably, and had to refrain from giving into the urge to buy everything in stock. Instead, they chose to purchase the most comfortable bed they could find, since it was already obvious that Minmin would be a spoiled child. They picked up an new litter box, and even some fun cat treats and toys. They quite enjoyed shopping for Min-ie, and it was interesting to see so many pets in one place. With such a heavy and demanding career, they didn't get to go out much, and had to cherish it whenever they did. But course, all good things must come to an end, and soon, they were ready to leave.
Jungkook volunteered to chase down Taehyung, who they finally spotted at the opposite end of the store. He seemed to take a liking to one of the many puppies the store offered, and thus, it would prove to be very hard to convince him to leave.
Jimin waited patiently for the other two, but there came a point when it was taking far too long. He strutted forward with the purpose of getting them both out when a certain aisle caught his eye. Stopping abruptly in his tracks, he stared at what lay before him. He smirked.
This is perfect.
