Song of the Chapter- Voldemort, With Confidence
It had been a week since Eva's drunk experience and a day before tour started. All of the bands, their significant others, and Eva's friends were invited to the Urie's for a celebration and send off before the three month trip. Brendon and Sarah rushed through the house, checking everything three times before moving onto the next worry.
"Relax, guys." Eva shouted from the kitchen as she straightened the cups and napkins gently. "It looks amazing and every one will love it." The two pacing adults looked over at the counter and smiled at the teenage girl before walking over and joining her. The three talked for a few minutes before the door bell rang. Brendon practically sprinted to the door. All the voices that followed were a comforting kind of familiar. Soon enough, the whole house filled with life.
Eva stayed in the kitchen, nerves growing in the pit of her stomach. She loved everyone here, but still felt scared around them. The last time they all were with her together, she had run away. To hide away from the fear and slight embarrassment, she just sat at the counter and tried to calm down. Dallon was the first to find her. "Little Urie!" he shouted from the doorway as he lifted the blue-haired girl up into a hug and he wrapped his calloused hands around her waist. "How you doing kid?" he said smiling into her hair as Eva hugged back, not realizing how much she wanted to greet all the guys. "Been better, been worse." she replied non-nonchalantly. Dallon only nodded before tipping his head towards the bustling rooms around them. Eva returned the nod and took his outstretched hand as they walked towards the noise.
She saw Sarah sitting in the living room with everyone's wives and girlfriends. Eva met all of them before, but knew some better than others. Tyler's wife, Jenna, sat next to Sarah, followed by Pete's girlfriend Meagan, and Joe's wife Marie. Breezy sat in the end, looking up at Eva and laughing at Dallon's expression. Their conversation seemed important and not to be interrupted so Dallon quickly avoided them. "Girl talk's gross," he joked as he dramatically pulled the young girl away. Eva could only laugh as she was pulled to the next group outside. In a huddled group sat Josh, Andy, and Dan talking quietly about different drum kits with Pete sitting slightly outside, just listening. He looked up at Dallon's entrance and gleamed a bright smile when he saw Eva. "E!" he shouted as he sprung up and picked the girl up with no hesitation. She couldn't hold back her smile. Pete jokingly shooed Dallon away, to which the bassist could only lift his hands and surrender while walking away and giggling. Pete placed Eva back down and threw his arm over her shoulder as they walked on.
"Your dad told me you got in some trouble," Pete said, nudging her slightly and smirking. Eva felt the blood rush to her cheeks and the heat simmer out of her skin. Everyone knew, didn't they? She couldn't reply. Her sudden shyness led Pete to sit the girl down near the fire and away from everyone else. "Everyone does shit like that, just be careful with it. And don't use it to feel better." A pause filled the air. Eva looked up, knowing there was more to say. Pete sighed, "It doesn't work." That little whisper of a confession kind of broke Eva because she suddenly understood that in its entirety. Tears played along the rims of her eyes but she refused to let them fall. This is was a celebration. She nodded and smiled up at the writer in a kind of crooked 'thank you.' He smiled back in return and helped the girl stand up. "This is no time to be sad. We're going on tour for Christ's sake." Pete laughed at that and hugged her once before sending her off to the rest of the party. Sarah called from the living room and Eva ran to her. "Your friends are here, sweetie."
Eva rushed to the door and flung it open, revealing a huddled and slightly panicked Alex, Spencer, Jane, and Sam. Next to them stood a hysterical Theo as he laughed at their ridiculous fangirling. "Shut up, Theo. You were nervous when you came here the first time," Eva snickered as she ushered the group inside. The tall and kind-eyed boy walked in last, hugging Eva gently behind their friends. It was a kind of 'talk to you later' hug, something that meant there was more to say in a less public place. Jitters filled Eva as she grinned lightly up to Theo before returning to the group as a whole and showing them around.
