Sidd's POV
She's joking. My head was experiencing the aftershock of looking up too soon. Her eyes were focused on the ground. Her shoulders were slumped and she was unconsciously fiddling with her fingers. Little strands of hair swayed around her face as she abruptly tucked those strands of hair behind her ears which were slightly tinged with baby pink. What was she talking about? "Stop joking, I won't tell Josh what happened between us. Don't worry," a part of me was jumping. Adrenaline. We had a secret to keep. Just between us, nobody else. And that's when my heart sank. I did not want us to be a secret. It wasn't an "us" in the first place.
"I am not joking! I... i um... sorry for last night okay?.. I won't disturb you ever again, I know you don't feel the same way towards me and it's really fine. Honestly I never expected you to like me back. It's okay," her full pink lips were quivering and her face turned a shade of red. A teardrop rolled down her puffy cheeks and her lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to say something. But she turned around and ran away.... as her words hurt me like tiny shards of glasses cutting through my skin.
Did she really like me? She said she liked me. She actually liked me. Did she?... how was that possible?.. She liked Josh, didn't she? The memories flashed in front of me. Him holding her close and tight. Like he owned her. And the way she looked at him.
No, she did not like me.
What was she trying to do?
I called Josh.
I need answers.
