It was just a normal night, and I was on the roof of my shabby house, gazing at the stars. So little I knew then. And, oh, how I wondered. I wondered if there was life at those solar systems far far away. I wanted to be a pilot, to fly farther than any astronaut had ever gone, even farther than Iverson, who had been to Jupiter's moon, Europa.

I wanted to be just like my twin brother, Lance. I loved Lance, with his cheeky grin playful personality, he always tried to get everyone to get along in the family, even during thanksgiving and Christmas (those were usually filled with political debates from our Abuela).

Lance had been with me all my life, and I couldn't imagine it without him. He would always stand up for me, was always on my side, even if I was wrong. We may have been the complete opposite of each other, but that just made us get along even more.

Little did I know that when I said goodnight to him, it would be the last time I talked to him for years.

A giant purple ship filled the sky, illuminating it instead with glowing purple lights and dark metal. I said nothing, but froze and hoped with all my heart that it would go away. My prayers didn't work. A beam of purple light filled my eyes, and everything went black.

I remember flashes of purple light, sharp needles and scalpels, and one eerie voice:

"Prepare her for the ring."
