38|| Winning the War

As I flew back to the Castle, I started thinking deeply. Would Voltron really accept my Aunt? EVen if I told them? I gripped the control sticks tightly. I had to try. I landed back in the bay, but it seemed that no one was paying any attention to me. Everyone was in a panic.

"Where's Jade?!" Lance yelled. I turned on my mic.

"Okay, guys, what the hell is going on?!"

"Where the hell have you been?!" Krolia yelled, running towards me.

"Never mind that, what's going on?"

"Lotor has his own damn Voltron, that's what!" Lance yelled. "And we don't have our fucking Black paladin!"

"Damn it. Okay, I'm coming."

I ran out of the landing bay and run towards the lion's hangar. As I approach it, it puts up its shield. My steps falter. 

"N-no, no! No no no no!" I scream. If Lotor had his own Voltron and we couldn't even form ours, then we were doomed.

"What?!" Pidge yelled.

"The Black lion won't let me in!"

"WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" Hunk yelled. I growled.

"Keith! Keith, are you there? God damn it, where the hell is he?!" Panic raced through me. Not only could I not pilot the lion, but Keith wasn't responding. Did Shiro- no, he couldn't have. I scream in frustration.

Krolia ran in after me. "Jade, what are you- oh no."

I throw down my helmet in frustration, blocking out the others yells. "Keith isn't responding either. I don't know what to do, I-I feel like this is my fault."

Before Krolia could respond, Keith ran in, wearing his paladin armor, but the helmet was missing. That's why he couldn't respond.

"Shiro is at the bridge, he needs help now," Keith said to Krolia urgently. He looked over at me.

"What's going on?"

"Lotor has made his own Voltron, he used Allura to do so. You need to go now,"  I ordered Keith. He nodded as I left with Krolia to prepare the castle for war.

Once we had arrived, I could hear Lotor yelling, broadcasting his voice to all of us.

"I'M READY TO WIPE THE UNIVERSE OF ALL MY ENEMIES! VOLTRON, HAGGAR, AND THE REST OF THE GALRA! THEN I'LL BE THE EMPEROR OF ALTEA, AND LEAD THEM INTO A GOLDEN AGE!" He laughed insanely. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes. Why did I feel sad? He deserved this.

But he was still family.

"Lotor!" I yelled. "Lotor, please! Please don't make the same mistakes your father did! It's not too late to do what's right!"

Everyone stayed silent, shocked by both of our words. Lotor started laughing quietly, but it soon turned into an insane laughter.

"You really are stupid, dear Jade. The mindset you have, right and wrong, it's not the mindset that'll get you through war. There is only power. If you want to survive and prosper, you have to be the most powerful. That's how life works. Besides, even if you took me back, they wouldn't."

I hated when he was right. I sighed.

"Lotor! The quintessence has poisoned your mind! Please, surrender so we can help you! Your mother- Haggar still cares for you! Zarkon was awful to you, but she was forced to things against her will, just like you! She told me herself, just please Lotor, if you care about the Alteans, then surrender."

"Oh really? You wouldn't dare hurt them!"

"No, but I'll make absolute sure that they hate you with all their being. Surrender now, and they'll still consider you a hero, and we won't tell them that you killed off half their population."

"You amuse me. I don't think so, little dog. I will become their emperor, and they'll love me either way. And once I've taken down Voltron, I'll have Allura as my wife and you as my advisor. Everything will work out perfectly."

I dug my palms into my eyes, trying to stop the tears. I cleared my throat to prepare myself for what I was about to say.

"I'm sorry Lotor. That won't happen. Voltron, attack."

I woke up in the Black lion, lying against Keith. He was focused on where he was flying, not even bothering to look at me. I put my head back down in the crook of his neck, nuzzling into his soft black hair. 

"Keith?"

"Yes?"

"What happened?"

"Well, to put it shortly, Lotor is dead. At least, that's what we think." Keith started to explain the quintessence plain, and how they had to go there to defeat Lotor. He then explained how they had to sacrifice the castle so that the universe didn't collapse. 

I listened intently, noticing how different Keith looked. Before he left, he had been shorter than me, now he was almost a head taller. His hair was now shoulder length, and he had a scar on his cheek. Without thinking, I reached up to touch it. The boy's purple eyes looked down at me.

"Hideous, isn't it? I got it in the fight with Shiro."

"No, I like it. It makes you look tougher," I said thoughtfully. Keith laughed. Behind us, Krolia walked up to the copilot seat and sat down. I looked around.

"Where's Jared?"

"He's in the Red lion with Lance," Krolia said to me, then looked up at Keith. "Shiro is in a stable condition, for now."

"What happened to Shiro?"

"We don't know exactly. All we know is that he nearly died, Allura saved him, but he passed out again into a coma," Keith explained. I nodded.

"So you'll be staying here for good?"

"Actually, we're heading back to Earth. Everyone there thinks you guys are dead," Krolia said, fiddling with something on the controls.

I sighed. The war was over. Voltron had won. And I was going to see my family.

Since Honerva is actually against Voltron, to write the story along the lines of season seven/eight would be pointless, but I really loved the way this book turned out. It's my best work, and I'm proud of it.

As for the Jared x Reader, I might take that down, because I'm actually starting on a new series with all my OCs, including some you haven't seen yet.

Until I finish that, I'll finish this book, and I'll probably start writing fics for different fandoms. Don't get me wrong, I love Voltron, and I love this book, but I'm not as obsessed as I used to be (compared to anime) and since the show is ending, I'll probably start for other ongoing fandoms. I'm planning on writing a Boku no Hero Academia fanfiction, so I'll start that soon.

As for the new books I'm writing with OCs, that won't come out for a long time. I want to actually finish the book first, edit it, and then upload a few chapters a week. With this fic, I kinda just make stuff up as I go at 2 am, so the plot isn't as good as I wanted it to be. I'm still proud of it :3

Anyway, if you haven't seen BNHA, you should TOTALLY go watch it. It has to be one of the best animes I've ever watched, just because it's so appealing in multiple ways. Not to mention Kiribaku is the best ship
