Darkness. All I saw was darkness.

But I heard voices. They went in and out, like a radio with a bad signal, and most of the time they were talking about me. I first heard the voices when someone was yelling.

"JADE!"

"Keith, calm down!"

"IS SHE GONNA LIVE?"

"Keith, I-I'm sorry, I don't know if she will."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU DON'T KNOW? YOU'RE THE FUCKING HEALER!"

"She was hit by four beams of pure quintessence, don't you understand? That kills normal people. If Jade lives, s-she might not be able to fight anymore." Soft crying was heard.

"W-What?"

"She could be paralyzed or brain dead, I have no way of knowing at this point. All we can do is hope she is okay."

But I am okay! I just can't move! I want to move, come on!

My luck was out. Nothing happened.

Keith's POV

"She could be paralyzed or brain dead, I have no way of knowing at this point. All we can do is hope she's okay," Kekini said, tears rolling down her face. This couldn't be happening. Why wasn't I here for her?!

I felt the tears run down my own face too. She had ordered the four lions to shoot her, knowing it would save them and kill her, but why? Why did she do it?

The doors open and Jared ran in, a shocked look on his face.

"L-Lance told me, is it true?"

Kekini was sobbing at this point, crumpling to the floor. Jared froze, looking at all of us.

"She's dead, isn't she? I-I knew it."

He walked out and I knelt down to the floor and wrapped my arms around Kekini, hoping it would comfort her, even if we both knew we needed Jade's comfort right now.

Kekini sat in my arms for a few moments before pushing away, wiping away her tears. "H-how are we going to tell Lance?"

"Are you sure she's dead?"

As if to prove my point, she took my hand and gently placed it on Jade's neck. It was cold, and there was no pulse. I yanked my hand back, gasping in shock.

"I don't know," I said sorrowfully. Boiling with hatred at myself, I kicked the wall. "I'M A FUCKING IDIOT! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE TO SAVE EVERYONE, NOT HER! I SHOULD'VE BEEN THE ONE TO DIE, TO SACRIFICE MYSELF FOR THE TEAM!"

Kekini sat down at the edge of the bed where Jade lay. "We both lost someone we cared for, Keith, but we can't mourn her right now. The Galra know our plans somehow, meaning someone on this ship is a spy."

"Jared," I snarled.

"We shouldn't jump to conclusions! Keith!" Kekini yelled.

"OF COURSE ITS HIM! HE HASNT BEEN THE MOST OPEN TO THE TEAM, AND DID YOU SEE THE WAY HE REACTED TO JADE?"

"Keith! You are talking about a boy who was killed by the Galra, he probably has a different way of reacti- KEITH!"

I pulled out or her grasp and sprinted away to find Jared. He was in his room on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He sat up when he saw us, and I lunged for him, throwing him down on the floor, then picking him up and pinning him to the wall.

"What the HELL?" He yelled.

"Don't 'What the hell' me, you know what you did!"

"Actually, I don't! Can you put me down so we can talk? Not with you putting a fist near my nose!"

I snarled at him. "I think we can talk right here. Now, tell me, are you a spy for the Galra?"

"A spy? What?! Why the hell would I work for someone who enslaved me, made my fight against other prisoners, and ultimately killed me?"

"LIAR!"

Jared looked at my angered figure. "It's about Jade, isn't it?"

"Of fucking course it is! You were the cause of her death, weren't you?"

He sighed. "Keith, I know you never liked me. I know you think I'm going to take Jade from you, I know you know I love her. And it's true, I do love her. However, you have to realize that out of all the people who knew my whole story, none of them were as close to me as Jade. We're more similar than you think, Keith. We both lost our families, we both love the same girl. The only difference is, I died."

"That makes no difference," I snarled.

"Yes, dying makes a huge difference. It makes you a lifetime wiser, that's why I reacted differently. I had been hurt and broken so many times in my past life that emotional pain isn't as strong as it used to be. You don't understand, Keith, the pain in dying. Knowing you were leaving the few people who cared for you. Jade probably feels- felt terrible in leaving you. But she knows she did the right thing, and I don't think she would regret it either. She died saving Voltron, and we should respect her sacrifice, and let her die with honor."

I sighed. "You never answered my question if you were a spy."

"I'm not, Keith. Killing me right now wouldn't do the team any good. Jade saved the team so that we could win this war, not go beserk on each other."

I let go of Jared, and he rubbed his neck with relief. "Thank you. Now, I want to see her again. I don't think she's really dead, even if Kekini says she is."

We walked over to Jade's room, not saying a word. Kekini was back in there, tending to Jade. She looked up at Jared and smiled softly. "I knew you'd be able to talk your way out of things," she said. "You want to see Jade?"

Jared nodded, and she stepped aside. Jared checked her pulse, looked at her face, mumbling things. Finally, he stood back up.

"She's not dead," he announced. "At least, not her spirit. In fact, she can probably hear everything I'm saying right now. But she's not, going to wake up on her own. She's in some kind of magic coma, so we need to take her to someone who's an expert in that."

"And who would that be?" I asked.

"Honerva," Jared said.

"That witch? Are you out of your mind?!" I said, confused. If Haggar didn't kill us on sight, Zarkon definitely would.

"Okay. The next person I can think of is Lotor, but we have no idea where he is, or even if he's alive. If there's anyone who can find a cure for her, it's him."

"So we have to find Lotor."

"Yes."

Jade's POV

They think I'm dead. This can't be good. I felt Kekini press Keith's hand against my neck, it pained me to hear his gasp of surprise. I needed to move.

Footsteps came into the room, and the new person and Kekini talked in hushed voices. It sounded like Keith.

"Go rest Kekini, it's been a day and you haven't left this room. I'll look after Jade, after all, I'm the reason she's like this," Keith finally said, and I heard footsteps leave the room, probably Kekini's. After that I didn't hear anyone else come or leave, but I heard Keith talking... to me.

"Jade, I don't know if you can hear me, or if you even care, but I'm so so sorry I wasn't there for you. I love you, and will do anything to make this right."

I forgive you.

Soooo, yeah. You aren't dead, just in a magic coma thingy.

Fun fact: people that are in comas can usually hear what goes on around them, they just can't respond because their brain has shut down all movement, except for breathing for course :3

Hope you like this chap, even if it was a bit boring.
