It has been ten years since I was abducted by the Galra. Even though I wanted to return to Earth, I had a war to fight and a battle to win.

The Galra had given me... interesting new features. My human ears were gone, instead replaced by furry purple wolf ears, which I could move and hear with, not to mention a matching tail. I seemed to also have gotten faster, stronger, and smarter.

After all, it had helped me in my escape.

My name is Jade McClain, currently a rebel fighter in the war against the Galra.

I was on a peace mission on a small planet inhabited by peaceful rainforest creatures, hoping to convince them that the Galra would harm them, and that they needed to join the rebels. I was the most diplomatic person in my assigned troop, so I was sent to the Nā Mea Nani to help.

My best friend, and princess of the rainforest people came swooping down, landing swiftly in front of me.

Kekini was a beautiful creature. She had red cat ears and a tail, along with rainbow wings and cat paws for feet. She reminded me of a fierce lion or tiger from the way her hair was styled. She wasn't pure Nā Mea Nani either, she was actually half Galra, but her royal bloodline showed through her beautiful wings.

"Jade, long time no see, friend," Kekini said, twining her tail with mine. I untwined mine with a little annoyance.

"As much as I love to see you, I'm afraid we have more important matters to discuss. The Galra are getting closer to your planet, and you don't have a very good military."

"Ah, yes," Kekini's ears drooped in sadness. "That is true. Here, we must come talk to my father, he'll know what to do."

She took my hand and led me through a series of bridges, and I'd notice the occasional hut or tree house.

"So, What has your father been doing?" I asked the cat girl. She brightened up.

"Oh, we actually allied ourselves with a group of rebels who call themselves Voltron."

"Like, the old legend?"

"Yes! One of the paladins is sooooo cute! I wish you could meet him!"

I smiled, remembering how boy-crazy Kekini had been when I had lived here. It seems she still had that trait, so I played along.

"Oh really, who is he?"

"He's actually Earthen! I think his name was... Lance, was it?"I froze in my tracks, and Kekini stopped to look at me. "Is everything alright, friend?"

I was sitting on a swing, being pushed by a boy with tan skin and brown hair, we were both laughing. I felt very young, only four or five.

I slammed my bedroom door shut and screamed. I hated that boy, hated what he said to me. I wish I didn't have a brother, I wish I was an only child. I felt a little older.

"Jade?"

It was 2:00 a.m.

I was seven.

Lance opened the door quietly and walked into my room. I didn't pay attention, but kept tapping my keyboard.

"Are you still up?"

"Not now Lance."

"Could I sleep with you tonight? Today was rough."
