I thought I was strong, but I guess not, because I broke down in tears of joy right on the spot, running over to him and giving him the biggest hug I had ever given anyone.

"L-Lance, I-I need to make you abuela's hot cocoa, don't I?"

I felt him tense against me, and he pulled away from me to get a better look at my face. His eyes widened as the realization hit him.

"Jade?" I nodded. "JADE!"

He swept me off my feet in a bigger hug than I had given him. Keith stepped forward.

"Lance  you do realize you're hugging a random stranger, right?"

Ignoring Keith, Lance said to me, "Jade, what happened to your ears? And you have a tail! Dios, I thought you were dead Jade, what happened to you??"

I sniffled, tears still rolling down my face, but I was the happiest girl in the galaxy. "I can explain everything."

Keith huffed as Lance put me down next to him on the couch. "What if she's a spy? Lance?"

Again, Keith was ignored and everyone sat down to hear my story.

"When I was seven, I would sneak out onto the roof to admire the stars at our farm," I started, "But the night I disappeared, a Galra cruiser had taken me for experiments, to see how powerful humans were.

"They finished experimenting on me pretty quickly, then I became the witch's pet. She gave me these ears and tail, and altered my body and mind so that I was fit to enter Zarkon's arena. I had to fight in the ring nearly every day, and became known as 'the Oboroten.' After about two years I finally realized that I would die if I didn't get out soon, and so I escaped on one of their pods.

"I flew for about a week before I started to grow thirsty and hungry, having run out of rations, and flew to the nearest planet. It turns out, the creatures who lived there were the Nā Mea Nani, and they took me in, knowing I was a weak, helpless child in need of some food.

"I was raised there, and made few close friends, one of them being Kekini here. I lived on the planet until I was sixteen, when I discovered the rebels, and met my other very close friend. Matt Holt. He acted as a brother to me when I joined, and helped me every step of the way. I couldn't thank him enough, and we considered each other family, since our real ones weren't there.

"I'm here because I needed to help the Nā Mea Nani protect themselves from the Galra, so the rebel generals let me come, knowing that they had helped me and could potentially help in the fight against Zarkon. And then I met you all."

They all stared at me in awe. Shiro cleared his throat.

"How old were you when you fought in the arena?"

"Eight or nine. Like I said before, she made me stronger and smarter so that I would survive for a while, but she didn't expect me to beat her monster."

"What does 'Oboroten' mean?" Katie asked. "I'm Pidge, by the way."

I smiled at her. "I know, Katie. Matt told me a lot about you. Oboroten means werewolf, that's what everyone considered me to be, and I think that's what Haggar wanted me to be."

"Soo, do you only eat meat?" Hunk asked. I shook my head. Hunk sighed in relief. "Good, now we know you won't eat Kaltenecker. Are you hungry?"

I shook my head. "I'm okay."

Lance gave me a mischievous grin. "I know that look Jade, you're starving. Now c'mon, let's get you some food goo."
