((These next parts just kind of follow along with the plot of seasons 4-5, so I'm kind of just skipping ahead including them as memories, as well as some I decided to make))

"Not with our weapons"

"KEITH NO!" Matt yelled.

"Keith! Listen to me! Please don't do this!" I screamed. There was no response to either of our pleads as he drove full force at the shield. "NO!" I screamed hysterically. I felt myself breaking down.

"Jade! Calm down!" Jared said. "Keith's Alright!"

"W-What?"

"Lotor took down the shields," Keith said quietly. I sat back, clutching my heart, trying to keep it from jumping out of my chest. Trying to regain my composure, I told him very sternly.

"Keith Akira Kogane If you ever fucking do that again—"

I heard a chuckle, "I can't make any promises."

I opened up the com link, Keith was standing there.

"Hey Jade," he smiled weakly. "How's it going?"

I tried not to explode with emotion. I failed.

"KEITH IT'S BEEN MONTHS WHY HAVEN'T YOU CALLED SOONER—"

I kept ranting at him, and I must've been screaming loudly, because Jared walked in. He looked up at the screen with no surprise, or a particular emotion.

"Keith," He said, rather coldly. Keith's expression hardened, glaring at Jared.

"Yes?"

"Oh, nothing," he laughed, but with no humor. "Just surprised."

"Uh Huh."

"Look, Keith, I think it's best if you don't call. You've shown your true colors, and maybe it should stay that way."

"Fine then. Goodbye Jade."

He clicked off the link. Jared turned to me, expression soft.

"I'm sorry about that. I just don't think he deserves to talk to you."

"Well no shit! I wasn't just gonna get all sappy with him! I wanted to talk to him about the Blade as well!"

"Then we can contact someone else. He needs to understand that he hurt you and needs to face the consequences."

Pressing a hand to my back, Jared practically forced me out of the room. I looked back at the screen wishfully, but shook my head and turned back to face Jared.

Lotor walked back into the bridge, disbelief on his face. I ran over to him, unsure whether to embrace him or not.

"Lotor... will you be alright?"

"I'll be fine, let's just focuse on the mission at hand."

I turned around to see Allura and Shiro yelling at each other.

"WHY DID YOU GIVE HIM THE BLACK LION'S BAYARD?"

"IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO KILL ZARKON, SO I TOOK IT!"

I looked back at Lotor, helping him back up and leading him away. In my room, I decided to hug him the best I could, considering how much shorter I was than him. I felt tears wet my shirt, but all I could do was rub Lotor's back comfortingly.

"I'm sorry you had to kill him."

***

I stood at the bridge again, I've been coming here every night for the past few months, and while I was there I did nothing but think. I didn't really concentrate on a certain topic, I just let my mind wander. Looking out into space was also comforting, it really helped with all the stress.

My mind kept going back to the call, how Jared had been so... odd. Even when Keith was here, Jared never acted so cold to him, or to anyone really. I knew he cared about me... but to what extent?

My thoughts were abruptly interrupted by a distress signal from Kolivan. He didn't bother to greet me or even ask who I was.

"We need Voltron here now! The Blade's base is under attack, by the Galra no less!" He yelled. I felt myself pale.

"O-on it sir!" I turned on the mic that was connected to every speaker in the castle. "PALADINS, WAKE UP! THE BLADE OF MARMORA IS UNDER ATTACK, WE NEED VOLTRON NOW!"

Kolivan nodded a thanks at me. "We can hold our own for now, but they keep sending more and more reinforcement! It won't be long until we are wiped out."

"I understand," I exclaim. "One more thing, is Keith alright?!"

"Keith? He's out there fighting now! Just get Voltron over here!" Kolivan shouted and closed the link. Oh no. No no no no no no no.

"The Blade of Marmora base is located between the two nearest black holes to Star Sirius B," I whisper into the bracelet.

"Good, you are loyal after all, Oboroten."

***

This was all my fault. People were going to die today, because of me. I felt my eyes get misty, but I forced the tears away. Right now I had to fight.

Voltron was ready within ten minutes, and we were zooming to the base. I sat next to Jared in the pod, uncomfortable. He was the only person who knew this was my fault. He glances over at me.

"Don't be guilty, the Galra would have found out eventually," he said, making an attempt to comfort me. It wasn't working.

"K-Keith," my voice cracked. Jared's jaw set, looking straight ahead.

"Look, Keith can defend himself. We just need to worry about ourselves right now," Jared said stiffly.

"Jared?"

"What?"

"D-Did something happen between you two?"

He sighed. "It's just when he left, I dunno. It just infuriated me to see him, such a close friend to you, leave without a second thought. Especially the way you reacted: you were broken. You've always had a few cracks, but he just rubbed salt on the wound. He knew you were sensitive, even though you tried to seem strong. He knew you loved him, but he left like he didn't care. He knew it was going to hurt you, but he did it anyway. I made it my mission from that point on to protect you, to make sure no one ever hurt you the way he did."

I placed my hand on Jared's knee, looking into his eyes.

"Jared."

He glanced down at me, determination filling his eyes.

"As much as I appreciate you caring about me, I don't need someone protecting me. I can do that on my own."

"Oh really? Then why do you seem to rely on Keith so much, eh? Do you not love me?"

I growled. "What's your deal with Keith anyway?! He didn't want to leave! He put his duty before his emotions, and I can respect that!"

"You didn't answer my question. Do you love me or not?"

I sighed, "Jared... I don't know how I feel about anyone right now, I just want us all to make it out alive right now. And even if I didn't still have feelings for Keith, I'd help him anyway. He's my friend."

Jared huffed. I leaned back in my seat, worrying about Jared, worrying about Keith.
