"Jade, wake up."

I opened my eyes and sat up, rubbing my eyes tiredly. Lance was at the door with Iverson, smiling widely.

"What's going on?"

"They've finally released the news, we can all go home now!" Lance exclaimed. I bet you can imagine what happened next. I started laughing with joy, crying as I did so. Funny, I've been through so much, you think I'd be a little tougher than I was. I ran into Lance's arms, hugging him as tight as I could. We could finally go home. I could finally see Veronica, and Marco, and little Louis...

"C-C'mon Jade.. we should get going now," Lance patted my head, and I could hear in his voice that he was crying too. 

I pulled away, smiling widely. "What are we waiting for, let's go!"

"Ughhh, are we there yet? I feel like vomiting," Jared groaned, leaning on Allura's shoulder. We were in a borrowed van, and driving to everyone's homes. Hunk, Pidge, Romelle, and Coran has gone to see Hunk's family, but the rest of us were in Cuba, driving to the little farm Lance and I grew up on. I looked at Jared from the front seat.

"Funny, you've been in alien warships, flown at speeds nearly as fast as light, gone through wormholes... and you get motion sickness in an Earthen car?"

"It's not my fault," Jared whined, wrapping his arms around Allura's waist. Ever since we were released, they seemed to be acting flirtier around each other, but this time, I approved of their relationship, not that they made it official yet or anything... wink wink.

I rolled my eyes, looking over at Keith, who was driving. "Do you want to stop then, Jared? I think it's Lance's turn to drive anyway."

"Hey! No fair! I've already driven two hours!"

"And I drove the last six. Keep in mind no one else in this van can drive, so shut up and do it."

I pouted, leaning back in my seat. "I can drive, you just won't let me."

Keith gave me a small grin. "Of course you can drive, just not without crashing into a million other cars first."

"Whatever, Mullet."

"Hey! That's my name for him!" Lance protested. Kiwi giggled.

"You giving Keith cute nicknames now? Oh, that simply won't do, I don't want to think you're cheating on me with him, now do I?"

Lance blushed, making everyone laugh. I looked back at Kiwi.

"I think they're dating in secret."

"Maybe we should date each other, Jade, they just seem too perfect for each other," Kiwi joked. Keith just chuckled, but Lance went a furious red.

"You guyyyys! Stop making it sound like that!"

"Where'd the suave Casanova go?" Jared said, looking around. Allura was laughing so hard she was the one leaning on Jared now. "I don't see him anywhere!"

Everyone kept talking and laughing as we kept driving home.

Lance jumped out of the car and slammed the door. He opened the front gate in a hurry, but almost got trampled by two kids. I stood in front of the car, since none of them would recognize me.

"Uncle Lance! Uncle Lance!" The two kids cheered. Lance laughed and hugged them both. The door to the house opened, revealing a plump woman who looked to be in her forties or fifties, my mother. I sighed. I thought seeing her would make me happy... but not really. She just felt like any other human to me now. I guess that's the price I paid for staying in space for so long, not that I really had a choice.

"What's all the noise out her— Dios. L-Lance?!"

"Mamá, I'm home," he grinned sadly, making the woman run towards him, sobbing uncontrollably in his shoulder.

"I-I didn't want to lose you too, especially after J-Jade—"

"She's here though, Jade is alive and well. Jade! Get over here!"

I walked through the gate rather reluctantly. How would she react? Would she accept me back? Even after being gone for so long? The blue eyed woman looked up at me.

"Lance? I-Is this really her?"

"Yes Mamá, it is. I'll explain everything later."

She just stared at me, but then I looked away, feeling very out of place and uncomfortable. She didn't think it was actually me, I looked way too different than I used to. 

"Come to think of it... you look just like Jade," my mother said. I felt a hand grab one of my crossed arms, pulling me in for a long hug. After the surprise wore off, I wrapped my arms around my mother, finally feeling... joy. That sense of joy you get as a little kid when your parents give you hugs and kisses, that's what I felt.

This seems too perfect... right? Well, it was. After everyone got over the shock, and Mamá was mad. 

"WHERE ON EARTH HAVE YOU TWO BEEN?! WE THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD, WE THOUGHT YOU HAD BEEN KIDNAPPED, TORTURED, SOMETHING! DO I NEED TO GROUND YOU BOTH?!" She yelled hysterically. Honestly, being grounded didn't sound so bad right now. Everyone else walked through to the yard, and she stopped yelling. I walked over to Keith and grabbed his hand.

"Mamá, this is Keith. He's my boyfrien—"

"AND I TOLD YOU NO BOYS! YOU ONLY NEED YOUR FAMI—"

"Mamá! You said when I was sixteen I could have a boyfriend—"

"I DIDN'T THINK YOU'D DISAPPEAR!"

"Mrs. McClain, I'm sure you'll find Keith a suitable mate for Jade," Krolia said, stepping up from behind us. "I consider Jade like the daughter I never had, and if he were to hurt her... well, let's just say you won't be the only one giving him a beating."

Keith rolled his eyes. "Mom..."

"Don't you 'Mom' me! You mess with her, you mess with me!"

I giggled, Krolia and my mother would surely become the best of friends. Kekini timidly stood behind Lance, as if afraid my mom would yell at her too. I laughed internally. It was going to be the other way around for her and Lance.

Everyone walked inside to get situated, chatting happily as we went.
