My dreams were full of memories of Keith, the fun times we had had together, as well as the bad ones. For some reason, my mind insisted on living in the moment when Keith and I were both drunk months ago. When I had joined Voltron.
My eyes fluttered open, I was in bed. Hold on. I don't remember going to my room. I looked around the room, and Jared was in the corner, reading a book. I cleared my throat, making him look up.
"Hey," He said. "How are you feeling?"
How was I feeling? I wasn't really feeling anything at the moment, my mind was completely blank.
"Fine," I responded. Jared nodded and got up. He went over to my desk and picked up a muffin.
"I brought this for you from the kitchen, I figured you wouldn't want to leave your room," he said.
"Thanks," I replied, taking the muffin.
"You think you'll be okay?"
"Yeah," I said, and took a bite of muffin.
"Do you want me to stay?"
I nodded, and Jared sat back down with a small smile playing on his lips.
"What are you reading?" I asked. ((Damn it now I have to pick a good book))
"Harry Potter."
"Which one?"
"The Deathly Hallows."
"Coo- hey, is that my book?"
"Mayyyyyybe."
I sighed, smiling slightly. Even when I was feeling sad, Jared always managed to make me smile.

A few more days passed by, Jared would stay in my room with me, sometimes we would talk, sometimes he would read to me, and sometimes we said nothing at all, just enjoyed each other's presence. It wasn't long before I found myself truly appreciating him, and a new feeling came along with it. It was a gentle bliss, a fuzzy feeling.
About a week after Keith had left, I started leaving my room more and more. I'd talk to everyone, even if I wasn't happy, but being around the others made me realize: this was my family. This was the family I was fighting for, not just the one back on Earth. And while I still wasn't over Keith, at all, I still found joy.
About three weeks later, I was at the bridge, working on a mini-mission for myself. I got a com during that time. I opened the link and there was Lotor, who looked tired. He looked at me for a few seconds, probably taking note of my tired but happy expression.
"Jade, I was hoping you'd be here," Lotor said. "I've been on the run for almost three months now, and I'm running out of places to hide. I recently heard that the Black paladin- Keith was his name? Anyway, I heard he left. Now, I need to ask a favor."
"Of course," I said. "What do you need?"
"I've been wanting to ally myself with Voltron the day I escaped, but the only reason I didn't is because Keith wouldn't allow that, and his words seem to have a very big effect on the rest of the team, so I decided against it. I've heard rumors that he was gone, but I don't know if they're true and I don't have anymore options. I need to ask: may I stay with Voltron? As an equal?"
I nodded. "It's fine with me, but I need to tell the rest of the team. I can't assure you that you will be treated equally, but if it's absolutely necessary, then you may come as soon as possible."
Lotor bowed his head slightly as a gesture of gratitude. "Thank you, Jade. I'd rather be Voltron's prisoner than my father's, so I will be there this afternoon."
