I stood in front of the Black lion, and took a deep breath. This was it.

After climbing into the lion, I walked over and sat in its chair. I grabbed the controllers, but nothing happened.

"Look, I know I'm not your paladin. I know you probably don't like me, I get that. Shiro is your paladin, but there's something wrong with him, so he can't be your pilot. Keith is after him, b-but I'm afraid he might not survive. Keith is powerful, but not enough to defeat Shiro. I need to help him, so please, please let me pilot you, even if it's just once." Tears rolled down my face. I was frustrated and scared. What if Keith really didn't come back? What if Shiro really killed him? Even as I cried, nothing happened.

"Remember what you said to me all that time ago? That Jade was worthy, not Oboroten? You meant Jared. I'm just Jade now. Please, I need to make sure they're alright. That he's alright."

The control panel stays black, but lights up purple. The screen opens up, and I can feel the lion moving, roaring. I couldn't help but smiled.

"Thank you."

I flew out of the castle, hearing gasps from the others.

"Who's piloting Black?" I heard Jared say inti the mic. "Jade?"

"Yes, I'm piloting Black. Now come on, let's go find Lotor," I said urgently. The other Paladins still made surprised comments, but the rest of Voltron flew out in a few minutes. While I waited for them, I thought deep.

Where would Lotor be? Shiro doesn't have him, and he's a clone. That means there's a high chance of him being under the control of someone, but who? Lotor? No. Honerva. She would take Lotor back. As prisoner or son, I didn't know, but if anyone were to control Shiro, it'd be her.

"Okay, I know where we might find Lotor," I said aloud. "We need to find Honerv— Haggar. If anyone has Lotor, it's her."

"Okay," Pidge said. "But won't she try to kill us on sight?"

"She will kill you guys," I said, "but she might listen to me and Lance. We'll go look for her, the rest of you go find Keith and help him."

The blue, green, and yellow lions flew off, leaving Lance and I to go find our aunt.

"So," Lance said after half an hour of silence. "Do you have any idea of where to find her?"

"Yes, actually. There are several major Galran bases that follow Sendak, not Lotor. Since Sendak is just Haggar's puppet, then she's probably with him in his base, if not her own."

"So we're heading there now?" Lance asked.

"No, that would be stupid. If Haggar isn't there, Sendak will just kill us. What I need you to do is wait by the base, out of range from their sensors. I'll leave my lion with you so that I'm not detected. I'll sneak onto a cargo ship once it arrives, and if Haggar is there, I'll talk with her."

"That makes sense," Lance said. "But why would Haggar hang out with Sendak? Wouldn't she have her own place for magicky, witchy things?"

"That's another place I wanted to check. When I was with Lotor, I got in on all the secrets of the HQ. It turns out, our dear aunt had a secret lair dedicated towards Altean Alchemy. We can go back there and see if there are any clues on her whereabouts there. The only problem is, if the rest of the Galran empire know that Lotor is on the run, then we won't be able to reach her lair."

"Got it. So should we split up?"

"No. Even though that would make our search faster, we don't want to risk being caught, especially when we have two lions. We should check Haggar's lair first, since we're closer."

We flew to the HQ, and everything seemed normal. The guards let us in, which made me want to let my guard down. Lotor had granted Voltron permission to everything in the HQ, but even so, after we had turned on Lotor, it felt wrong to pretend we were still allies.

I led Lance through the halls of the Galra headquarters, the same uneasiness hanging over me like a blanket.

We walked into her lair after a few minutes of walking. The room was filled with magical knick knacks, some Altean, some Galran.

"Start looking around," I told Lance. He nodded and left to search. I looked through several of the shelves myself, feeling that tenseness grow as I walked.

Jade. I whirled around. Something seemed to whisper my name. Jade

I look around for the source of the noise, but don't see anything. Jade. Come. Come closer. Clossserrrr.

"What the hell?" I mutter, still looking for the noise. I find a small amulet, which was glowing purple. Somehow, I knew the whispering was coming from it. Yessss. Come. I can give you everything you've ever wanted.

I looked at the necklace, then shook my head. Just more of Honerva's creepy shit.

"Jade?" Lance's voice calls out to me. "Come here, I think you might want to see this."

I run to him, which takes some time since I had gotten lost in the shelves. When I get there, Lance is holding a little device in his hand, and is scrolling through a little screen.

"I found this, it seems to be a data storage unit," Lance said. "I downloaded it onto my database, but all I see is this weird language, not Galran or Altean. Do you think you can decode it?"

He hands me the unit, which I connect to the holographic tablet in my armor. After downloading the data, I take a closer look at the text. Somehow, I can tell what it says, even though I don't know what language it is.

"Lance, it's a message. A message to me."
