Where are you now? (Keith x Reader) [discontinued]

19|| Preparation

Days turned to weeks, and weeks to months, no word from Lotor, and Keith was getting more and more frustrated. He'd put the team in jeopardy countless times and was losing sleep. He became more hostile and snappy, even Lance knew not to mess with him. On top of all of that, Keith was balancing the weight of being a Blade, which meant everyone was always on edge when he was on a mission with them. It got to a point where even Shiro couldn't reason with him. ((Stupid Clone Shiro *mumbles angrily*))

However, Keith seemed to be more relaxed around me. We'd often train together, give each other fighting tips, and even tried hand to hand combat at one point. I tried to find things that I thought Keith would enjoy since he was so stressed, and while nothing would relieve his stress, at least he smiled for a little bit.

However, today we were planning how to advance on the alliance. 

"What's our next move?" I aske. The entire team was there to help.

Shiro pointed to several areas on the map of our galaxy. "There are still several planets not under Zarkon's reign, so we will have you, Kekini and  Allura head there to convince them to join us. The planets in this sector that have been captured will be liberated by Voltron. Coran will be protecting you and the princess from the sky."

Keith nodded. "And Jared?"

"Jared will come to this planet with us, but we want him to help fight in the same sector as Voltron as well," Allura spoke up. "If I am not mistaken, Jared has the same power as Jade?"

Jared shook his head. "When I was forcefully ripped from my host, Jade, I had lost and forgotten several abilities, including my ability to turn into a full werewolf. However, I want to see if I can relearn my shape-shifting powers. For now, my combat skills should be enough to be an asset to Voltron."

"Then it's settled. Jared will set out with Kekini and Coran while Voltron and Jade leave to defeat the bases," Shiro said, and the meeting broke off.

As soon as I woke up, I got suited up and went to get breakfast. Hunk was there, baking.

"Hey," he said nervously, looking at his tray of freshly baked cookies. "Sorry, it's just a nervous habit."

"It's fine," I said, taking a cookie. The cookie crumbled in my mouth when I bit it. It was delicious. "This is a delicious nervous habit, these are amazing!"

"Heh, thanks," Hunk said, blushing slightly. I licked the remaining crumbs off my fingers and smiled at him before thanking him one last time and walking out. For some weird reason, I felt as though something terribly wrong was about to happen, something major.

Suddenly, I fell to the floor, a migraine ripping through my head. 

Blood. So much blood. Voltron on fire. Planets exploding. The Galra above it all.

The image flashed to another, all the paladins bodies on the ground, dead. I looked at the nearest person, and almost gagged, sobbing at what I saw.

Jared lay there in front of me, sliver eyes open, but dead. His hair and ears were clumped with blood, he was lying in a pool of it. 

I couldn't look at it anymore. I heard screaming, not aware that it was my own, and closed my eyes tightly. This wasn't happening, it couldn't happen. I hear more screams, but this time they belong to my fellow comrades. Kekini, Lance, Jared and... and Keith's. It pained me to hear their agony, my ears felt like they had been stabbed repeatedly.

"Jade! JADE!!!"

I gasped and sat up, Kekini's worried eyes looking into my own terrified ones. Her hands were on my shoulders, shaking me. She relaxed slightly.

"Thank Nani... you're okay. What happened? We heard you screaming."

I explained what I saw, and Kekini paled.

"Jade... if that was an actual vision and not a nervous breakdown, we may be doomed," she said, tail twitching back and forth nervously. "You said you saw everyone dead?"

I nodded.

"In that case, we must be very cautious. We cannot simply do nothing, but we cannot try to change the future either, or it is guarenteed to happen. We must go on this mission, Jade," Kekini finished. "Just be careful. I'll tell the others what happened."

I nodded and looked for Jared. I wanted him to be with me after what I saw, to know that he was safe. I walked through the corridors quickly, trying  not to panic. I looked in every room, until I found him in his own.

"Jared! Thank God you're safe," I sighed. His head shot up. 

"What happened, is everyone okay?"

"For now," I said. "Listen, I've got a bad feeling about this mission, I don't think we should go on it."

"A 'bad feeling?' Was it like a vision?"

I nodded, and Jared cursed quietly.

"There's something else I need to tell you, Jade. I was born with not only my ears and tail, but I was also cursed with the ability to see the future. It happened at random times, of random events, and I would never know when they would happen, if at all. This explains why I haven't had any visions. DAMMIT!" He yelled. "What did you see?"

Once again, I explained what I saw, which only made him curse louder. He calmed himself down after a full minute of swearing.

"Okay, here's what we need to do. No one that doesn't already know can know about this, got it? Everyone who does know will try to change it, even if they don't mean to. This can make the future worse than it already is, so we need to be EXTREMELY careful! Understand?"

"SHIT! Kekini just went to tell the others!" I said, shifting into wolf form and bolting out. I found Kekini's scent easily and stopped her before she reached the lion hangars.

"Jade? Is everything okay?" Kekini asked.

"Don't tell them about my vision," I said desperately. "I don't have time to explain, but you CANNOT tell them? Do you understand?"

Kekini seemed shocked, but snapped out of her surprise and nodded. She went back to her room to get extra healing supplies, and I went to prepare for possibly the deadliest mission in my entire life.
