"You are not just Jade, you are Oboroten."

What the hell? Has Lotor had too much Garmunch? Lotor smirked.

"Let me explain. I apologize for having to do this, but-" As soon as he said that, shackles pinned my wrists and ankles to the chair. "What I'm about to tell you may make you lose control, and we can't have that. It's simply a precaution. Again, I apologize."

"You bastard!" I screeched. Lotor winced, But didn't get angry.

"Jade, you need to meet the other half of you."

"I-I don't understand, now let me go!"

"I will let you go if you are strong enough! Now shut it!" Lotor said firmly. I would've attacked him had I not been chained to a chair, so I shut my mouth. "Good, now, look up at the ceiling."

I obediently looked up, I heard Lotor get up and walk over to me. He gently brushed his fingertips over my neck, making me want to shudder. He brought my chin down and opened my mouth,

"Lift up your toungue," he instructed. After doing so, he smiled. "There it is. Jade, I'm going to need you to release all feelings of anger, not one drop of it okay? It will help you with your other side."

I didn't know what he meant, but I figured I should do as I was told. I closed my eyes, thinking peaceful thoughts.

"Jade, do you know of the story of the two wolves?" Lotor asked. I shook my head. "Well, there was once a boy who loved to listen to his grandfather's advice and stories. One day, the grandfather told his child a story of two wolves. 'There are two wolves inside you,' the grandfather said, 'they are constantly fighting. One wolf is all things good, bravery, kindness, compassion.' This wolf represents you, Jade.

"'The other wolf is all things evil,' continued the grandfather. 'Such as lying, stealing, killing.' The boy asks, 'which one wins the fight?' The grandpa responds, 'the one you feed.' This story represents what you are going through. You are one of those wolves, fighting for control of your body, the other wolf is the soul of another who has died, but had not been laid to rest properly," Lotor said. I shuddered.

"So I've got someone else's soul in me?" Lotor nodded. "Ew! How do I get rid of it?"

"You don't want to force it away, this demon is what gives you your power. Take it away, and your strength and power will be gone. You want to learn to channel it."

"So what can I do?"

"That's why I wanted you here. You are very powerful, but you do have the potential of killing the entire galaxy if you cannot control Oboroten. I want you to meet Oboroten, and maybe you two will figure out how to balance each other's power."

So many things clicked all at once. When Haggar called me Oboroten, she wasn't talking to me, she was talking to him. The Black Lion's message "Jade is worthy, Oboroten is not," meant that I'd have to be rid of him to lead Voltron.

"I need to talk to Oboroten then. Now!" I exclaimed. Lotor shook his head.

"I don't know if that's possible. You may be able to communicate telepathically with him, have you been hearing voices?"

You know, he's not wrong, said the little voice. I gasped, making the voice scoff in irritation. I've been thinking to you for the past weeks and you still didn't figure it out? Holy quiznak you're dull.

"He's speaking to me!" I exclaimed. Hooray, Oboroten said sarcastically. "Shut up."

Lotor looked confused, but realized after a moment that I was speaking to Oboroten.

So, can I take control now? Oboroten asked. I really want to smack that smirk off his face.

"No," I thought back, "he helped me. No smacking my cousin."

Oboroten sighed, fiiiine. I just want to kill something right now!

"You can kill something when we are fighting Haggar. Now, you can't keep taking control over me, Oboroten."

But that's the only fun I get, he responded. I love watching your friend's heart break.

"I hate you," I thought back.

Believe me, the feeling is mutual.

"Well, when this war is over we can find a way to get you your own body, but we'll discuss that later."

"I think I need to rest, this is a lot to take in," I told Lotor.

He nodded. "Alright, follow me, I'll take you to your room." With caution, the chains came off and  Lotor led me through several corridors before reaching a small, plain room. It had a bed and small desk, and he left me there to think. Oboroten would be hard to negotiate with, but it could be done. But, more importantly, did I want to stay with Lotor? He didn't seem bad, but I didn't want to underestimate him. I did want to go back to Voltron, but I also wanted to make the alliance work.

Need some helpful advice from your best friend? Oboroten asked.

"Go away," I snapped back.

I mean, we are in the same body so...

"Shut up."

Do you want me to take form outside your body so you don't feel stupid talking to a wall? It asked. Don't worry, I can't hurt you, or I won't, you're my host, hurting you would hurt me.

"Fine."

The air before me seemed to shimmer, and a teenage boy sat in front of me. The only word for him was hot. He looked like your typical anime boy, with jet black hair and pale skin, his silver eyes glittered like gemstones, his expression was sharp and crisp. He had black wolf ears with a matching tail.

"That's better," Oboroten said, looking at his hands wistfully. "This was my body before I died. It's been a while since I've seen you face, Woof."

Woof. Only one person has ever called me that. I gasped, "Jared?? How are you- Wait, you're not alive."

"That's right. I'm that 'boy you liked when you were a prisoner'" he said, looking bored. "I can't say I had the same feelings, but you were cute in a fluffy sort of way. I remember how scared you were."

"You look so different!" I exclaimed. He gave a small chuckle.

"Well, granted this is how I would've preferred to look, but I wasn't concerned about appearances back then," Jared said. "Being alive was nice."

"Jared, I want to find you a new host," I said. "Or bring you back. Oh god, you were so kind to me, even when I was weak."

"My time is over, but your aunt has different plans," he said, annoyed. "You can keep control, just let me take over in fights. Why are you crying?"

I didn't even realize the wetness on my cheeks. "I'm sorry- I just miss you so much."

"How could you? I'm right here," Jared said. "Listen, I will stay with you for now, but when the war is over I want you to put me to rest."

"I will," I said, "but-but why do you always take control?"

"I do that against my will. Being a soul without a body is not easy. You do things more on instinct, and the longer you are without your own body, the more unstable you become. I didn't want to attack Keith, but I wanted to protect you. I'm sorry, Jade."

"No, I'm sorry for not being able to save you in that arena," I cried. Jared shook his head.

"No, I protected you, that's what I wanted since I met you. You have so much potential, just push through a little longer."

Jared faded away, probably having used up all his energy.

"Jared?"

No response. He was probably asleep. I did feel drowsy after he faded away, so it probably drained my energy too. I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes.
