13: Trial

"How was it?" Pinasadaan 'ko ng tingin si Elise pagkabalik ng unit habang nagtatanggal ng sapatos. "Mukhang maganda ang kinalabasan, a?"

Her arms are crossed to her chest habang naglalakad patungo sa kusina, "I'm hungry." Dumiretso ako ng kusina. Unang bumungad sa akin ay apple kaya iyon ang kinuha 'ko.

"Stress eating, huh?"

I turned to her. "Can you not?" I wipe my tears and sat on a stool and rested my arms on the counter habang siya'y patuloy sa paglilinis ng pinagpapatungan 'ko. "Hindi ako maka paniwalang nagawa 'kong ipahiya ang sarili 'ko sa kaniya. Tss.. Again, this is for my family."

Sinundan 'ko siya ng tingin sa lahat ng ginagawa niya nang maalala 'ko 'yung nanyari sa akin kani-kanina. I was brought back to reality and walang sino man ang humahawak sa akin o nagdadala sa akin do'n. Then, how was I able to do that? Alam 'kong matututunan 'ko rin 'yon, but then..

Kung walang mangiistorbo sa akin hindi ako agad makakabalik, tama? Tama. I need to focus so that I won't be lying on a bed everytime I see my family. If I can concentrate, baka magawa 'ko pang tumayo at maglakad lakad sa buong hospital, right? Much better if I can visit our house.

"UY!" Halos mahulog ako sa inuupuan 'ko sa malakas na hampas ni Elise sa mesa, "Mamaya kakaisip mo diyan sa pina-plano mo kay Yildeen, hindi pa magkatotoo."

But if Elise has the ability to see or to feel what's gonna happen next (sometimes), then does that mean I can ask for her help? Wait. What's the connection between those two? None. Her ability won't help.

But atleast I need to know as well as how she manage to stay calm despite all the tragedies she's been encountering. She told me about how she managed to see me in the incident kahit wala pa siya duon. And that she told me na alam niyang nasa unit ako ni Yildeen because she felt it.

Kung magagaya 'ko ang ability or kung ano man ni Elise, siguro madali 'ko ring mahuhulaan kung magsa-succeed ba ako o hindi.

Hinuli 'ko ang kamay niya nuong palabas na siya ng kusina. "How do you do it?"

"Do what?"

"May superpowers ka ba? Paano mo nape-predict 'yung nanyayari or -- " she cut me off. "Only I can do such things like that."

"But why?" Tumayo na ako para harangan siya sa paglabas, she sighed before looking at me. "I don't have super strengths, Mel. It just happens since I've been staying her for almost a decade. It's like an improvement everytime I'm seeing things I shouldn't see. Actually.. I don't know either. So I cannot tell you if I can really do things like that because it just happens like.. I.. I can't explain any further."

I don't understand. Everything that she said, I didn't understand even a tiny bit of information. I cleared my throat, "So you mean.. It happens unexpectedly? It happens in a wrong time at the wrong place you were trying to say?"

"Exactly."

"Then atleast help me how can I see my family! It happens only when someone touches me. Pero 'yung nanyari kanina, wala namang humawak sa akin pero nadala ako duon. And.. is it possible kung matagalan ako duon? Like, -- "
