November 1969.

Sunday, November 16th.

Ryan and Roger spent the entire Sunday at Jade's house. Roger was doing a college job with Mark and Ryan was together, creating propaganda posters for Smile's upcoming shows at Imperial College and pubs. Jade was doing some math exercises, listening to music quietly. Everyone had already had lunch. Roger and Mark continued to do the work in the living room.Jade was in the backyard, doing the exercise on the spot and listening to The Beatles' special on the radio . Ryan approached Jade and sat down next to her. In the yard there is a large table. They are in the fall and the afternoons are cooler, but, Jade does not bother with this mood because she just loves it.

"Did I bother you?" - Said the young man to Jade.

"Of course not." She smiled at him.

- I want to show you my propaganda posters to help the band Smile, what do you think? Ryan asked smiling.

"Wow, the posters are beautiful," Jade smiled. "It sure will get people's attention and it will really help the band spread the word about their work. Great work, Ryan. Congratulations.

"Thank you so much, Jade," Ryan smiled. "The opinion of the boys is important, but yours is also very important. A feminine view of the band's propaganda is vitally important.

- Yeah, I'm sure it will help the band a lot and you show it to be a great advertiser, you have a future in the profession. You'll be excellent, Ryan. "Jade watched him closely.

Jade looked at Ryan's beauty. In fact, Jade is delighted with Roger's phenomenal beauty and her sincere, funny, beautiful personality , but, she is very delighted with the beauty of Ryan as well. She watches the boy's dark hair, his black eyes.

At that time, the music of The Beatles is interrupted on the radio and the announcer gives the news about the Vietnam war. Ryan watches the interview, and Jade notices the boy's concern with the news. Jade knows the boy is an American from New York and has family in America.

After the announcer broke the news, Ryan's face was pale.

"Ryan, are you okay?" Jade asked worriedly, looking at the boy.

Ryan looked at Jade with tears in his eyes.

"How much longer will you have that bloody war, Jade?" Ryan asked, looking down at her, holding her tight so she did not cry. "I have two cousins who are fighting right now in the goddamn war, Jade. They send letters to me. The letters are slow to get here, and my heart always tightens waiting for news of them, Jade, not knowing if they are alive today or if they are dead, unfortunately. You can not tell. I have a cousin who is about to turn eighteen and at any moment he can be called also to fight in Vietnam.

At that moment Ryan starts to cry and Jade hugs him tightly and kisses his head affectionately.

"I'm sorry for your cousins, Ryan," Jade said in annoyance. "Unfortunately, we do not know until when this damn war will last. Man destroys himself over time. I'm afraid of future generations that might pass. The world is in great transformation, the man reaching the moon was only the beginning of the great transformations.

Ryan was crying as a child, and at that moment, Roger and Marcos appeared to see what was happening. Roger looking at Ryan and Jade hugged felt a jealous edge that he tried to hide and realized that his friend was crying a lot.

"What's going on, Ryan?" Roger asked, looking at him.

- The damn Vietnam war. The US government has sent more troops to the battlefield, as it is having great resistance from the Vietnamese. I think of my two cousins who are fighting at this hour, Rog. And I think of one of my cousins, who is about to turn eighteen, soon and he can be called to fight. - Ryan said crying a lot.
