"Today? Four? Um I guess" I say through the phone. "Ok see you then Dad" I say as I hang up the phone. "I'm so proud of you" Luke says kissing me softly. "I dont like lying to my mom Luke. What if she finds out?" I ask wrapping my arms around him. "Kayla did you forget she lied to you? C'mon this is what you wanted taking the DNA test right?" Luke asks clearly making a point. "You're right" I say kissing him. "Mmm" he mumbles causing me to giggle. "Hey guys" Jai says coming in to my room. "Hey Hey" I respond jumping up to hug him. "So how's things with your girlfriend?" Luke asks smirking. "Aw my little Jai has a girlfriend" I taunt rubbing his head. "Yes. Her name is Marieah" Jai responds sitting down. "Aw Im so happy for you. I would be mad at you for not telling me but I am meeting my dad in three hours and I have to get ready" I announce picking out my new outfit. "Three hours?" Jai asks. "Yeah but then we have to drive there and its an hour drive. Duh" I joke going in to my bathroom.
"Ready?" Luke asks wrapping his arm around me. "Yup" I announce. I grab my bag and walk down the stairs. "Bye hun. Have fun camping" my mom calls out as Luke Jai and I walk out the front door. "Why dont you just tell her?" Jai asks once we were all in the car. "Jai is that a good idea to you?" I ask. "Forget it" I mumble slouching in to my seat.
"Dr Pepper" I say when Luke asks what we all want to drink. "Last month when I told you guys Jake cheated on me you had a guilty look on your face" I tell Jai when Luke is out of the car. "I felt bad" he says simply. "No I want the truth" I say. "Fine. You want the truth? I was jealouus. I was in love with you Kayla. I-I dont know how you didnt see that. I was the one who was there for you whenever you needed someone to talk to not Luke" Jai says harshly. "Jai. I-" "Save it" he spits interuppting me. I wipe away any tears right before Luke comes back in to the car.
"He should be here any minute" Luke says encouragingly. "Why did you all of a sudden start caring about me?" I ask out of nowhere. I didnt mean to it just came out. "What?" he asks baffled. "At the lake you all of a sudden started caring. I mean I'm not saying I dont appreciate it. But why?" I explain. What am I doing? "You're saying that you didnt think I cared?" He retaliates. "Kayla?" a voice from behind says. "Daddy" I exclaim hugging him. He hugs me back and squeezes me. "You're so grown up" he exclaims tears filling his eyes. "Yeah" I say wiping away my tears. "Shall we go?" he asks happily. "Yes we shall. Bye guys" I respond grinning like a fool.
"Bye daddy. See you tomorrow" I say walking towards the hotel doors. "Bye sweetie" he calls out as I walk in. "What did Jai tell you?" Luke asks when I get in tomy room. "What?" I ask confused. "Dont play dumb just tell me why you were asking me those questions" Luke says. "I started thinking about it. Jai had nothing to do with it" I lie. "Whatever" Luke says going on to the bed. "Luke" I say but he ignores me. I grab my bag, slam the door shut and walk next door to Jai's room. "Is everything ok?" He asks worried. "I just wanna be with you in here" I say softly. "Of course. I'm always gonna be here when things get bad Kay" Jai says letting me in. "I love you Jye" I laugh. "I love you too Kayl" he responds wrapping his arms around me. "How was your night with your dad?" Jai asks sitting on the bed. "Amazing. Hes such a nice guy Jai" I respond sitting down next to him. "Im glad" He responds kissing my cheek. "Thank you Jai" I mumble. "Get some sleep Kayl" Jai whispers. "Night Jye" I respond slipping under the covers. "Goodnight" he responds flipping through the channels on the TV.
