Invitation For The Carnival (Red)

I threw the Pokeball and it shook and shook then it flashed blue light and the Nidoran was caught. I was really happy, it was the first catch of my life. It was getting darker and I had to get to the Viridian City. Fortunately, it was visible but far away. I had to walk and was very tired. The whole day just went by easily.

I stepped in Viridian when the sky was the darkest shade of black. I realized how late I was. Luckily I knew that the PokeCentre provides free service to Pokemon Trainers so I had a place to sleep now. I got a room on the first floor but in the room there were like many beds in a row. The beds were provided to trainers and ill Pokemons.

I slept quietly. I heard a strange noise which was for sure coming from the upper level. I crawled out and slowly went upstairs and found nothing. Nobody was there but a small broken alarm clock. But noise wasn't of an alarm clock, it was something else.

The next morning, I asked the Nurse about it. "Uh-excuse me, Nurse ?". The Nurse glared. She said,"Call me Joy".

"Okay.....Joy. There was some strange-",I got interrupted by her.
"I know, that sound. Right ?",said Joy.
"Absolutely. What was that about ?",I asked.
"I have no idea".
"Did you call anyone to investigate ?".
"Yes, Officer Jenny is on her way".

The sound was irritating and gave cold shrills in the spine as if someone was beating iron rods and scratching blackboard.

"Can I get some water ?",I asked. I was feeling thirsty, a lot thirsty. "Yes",said Joy. "Chansey, please lead him to the cafeteria". A pink Pokemon came in delight, literally. It had an apron with Delight printed in the centre.

I pointed the Pokedex towards it. The Pokedex displayed a magnifying glass floating in the screen as it searched for it and then displayed a cartoon-ish picture of Chansey which showed motion just like in any Nintendo 3DS Pokemon game.

It also displayed the name Chansey on the top and information in the middle.

"Chansey, an Egg Pokemon. It is rare and elusive Pokemon that is said to bring happiness to those who manage to catch one", explained the Pokedex in it's robotic voice.

I followed Chansey who walked to the Cafeteria away from the PokeCentre. Chansey went back to the PokeCentre. The Cafeteria had all kinds of juices and some other grocery items.

I purchased a water bottle and went outside. It just cost me five pokedollars. That was really cheap.

But now I had to go for the Pokemon Gym where I had to battle the Gym Leader and obtain my first badge. I tried to find the Gym but the city was big enough to get yourself lost.

"May I know where is the Pokemon Gym ?", I asked a pedestrian. "Yes", said the man. "But it is closed. You're just wasting your time here. Viridian City Gym Leader would come after some time, maybe in a month".

I could've wasted my time but I had to move further. I gazed the sky while taking a deep breath. The sky was clear and bright, the sunlight was reflecting into my eyes from a small puddle.

I saw a kid coming straight towards me, he was wearing some kind of uniform. He had papers in his hands which were like an invitation card.

"Excuse me. Would you like to go to the carnival that is taking place in the evening today ?", asked the kid with hope in his eyes.
"Yes, I wou-", I couldn't say anything, he gave the invite and ran away in a flash.

A carnival would be great but I couldn't afford wasting my time.
The invite read -

Dear Person,
We would love you to come in the carnival of the Viridian City that takes place every ten years. There would be free stalls for games, food and much more. You can also pay to get a stall for yourself. Venue: Viridian Park. Date and Time: August 12 2013 at 5:00 p.m.

I could stay for a while and travel at night. That would be perfect. I had a sleeping bag also if I get lost in the forest. I wanted to battle someone as I had never battled with my Nidoran. And the wish came true, a man with a Pokeball in his hand was walking towards the Cafeteria.

I walked to him,"Would you like to battle ?". "Yeah sure ", he managed a smile. "Alright then", I said.

"Go Nidoran",I said.
"Go Ekans",said the man.
"What's that ?", I pointed the Pokedex.

"Ekans, a Snake Pokemon. Moving silently and stealthily, it eats the eggs of birds, such as Pidgey and Spearow, whole", explained the Pokedex. That's gross.

"Nidoran, Poison Sting".
"Ekans, Wrap".
"Nidoran, Double Kick".
"Ekans,Poison Sting".
"Nidoran, Double Kick".
Ekans fainted.
"Good job, Go Sandshrew", said the man. I pointed the Pokedex at the Sandshrew.

"Sandshrew, a Mouse Pokemon. It burrows and lives underground. If threatened, it curls itself up into a ball for protection",explained the Pokedex.

"Nidoran, Double Kick".
"Sandshrew, Rollout".
Nidoran fainted.
"Nice, pal. Go Charmander".
"Sandshrew, Defense Curl".
"Charmander, Ember".
"Sandshrew, Rollout".
Charmander was getting exhausted and Sandshrew looked strong. "Charmander, anything". Charmander scratched his claw on it's face. The claw shone and seemed to be metal. It was the attack Metal Claw.

"Good battle. You have trained your Pokemon well",said the man. He went inside the Cafeteria. It was almost one-thirty in the afternoon. It was time for lunch.

As soon as it got five o'clock, I ran for the Carnival. It was across the city but I reached on time.
