Austin

The weekend couldn't have been worse. I was forced to do work that took even longer because I couldn't ask anyone for help. Ironically, I never looked forward to school more.

"Can I have the keys?" I asked Dad, once I got downstairs. "No," he said. "I need to get to school," I said, annoyed.

He looked behind me. "Caleb will drive you," he said. I turned around. Caleb was halfway down the stairs.

"Why?" Caleb asked. "Because Austin's not allowed to use the car until he's done being grounded," Dad said.

Literally everyone but Dad thought he was being unfair. Mom was mad too, but she thought I could've at least driven.

"Okay, and what about Jess?" I asked. "Call her from the landline," he simply said.

"You're being unreasonable," Mom whispered to him.

I shook my head before grabbing the phone.

"Hello?" She answered. "Hey, it's Austin. Look, I'll explain at school, but I can't drive today," I said. "Okay, I'll see you in a little," she said.

Hanging up, I waited for something to be said from Dad, but got nothing.

"Let's go," Caleb said. I walked out with him, and said nothing through the ride. He got the hint, staying quiet as well.

After finishing up at my locker, I still had some time to spare. Going over to Jess', she was walking towards it.

"I'm sorry," she said, pulling me in for a hug. I flinched at the contact, still sore from the fight.

"My dads being extra. He's making Caleb drive me around until I'm done being grounded," I explained. "How long is that?" She asked, softly looking into my eyes.

"Two months," I leaned my back against the lockers. "I'm sorry, babe," she sighed, just as the bell rang. "I'll see you later," I said, walking away.

Jessica

Last class came super slow. Kayla wasn't anywhere to be seen and she still hadn't answered any of my texts or calls.

Mom and Dad were pissed as hell at me for coming home late, but they let me off easy for whatever reason. I wasn't allowed to hang out with anyone for a month unless it was for school, but I was allowed to use my phone and laptop.

Noah asked me to explain everything and I told him I would, but we never got to it.

During class, I got a notification on my phone telling me that the book I ordered for history was delivered. Clearing it away, the bell rang.

As I made it to next class, I sat in the back, wanting to do nothing but get lost in my thoughts. It happened either way, but sitting in the back made it easier.

Before I knew it, class was over. "Alright everyone, make sure you have your textbooks in by tomorrow. We'll start using them then."

As soon as he finished, I walked out of class. Austin wasn't at my locker or his. I figured he had already left, so I did, too.

Once I got out of the building, I called Kayla's phone again, hoping to get an answer.

"Jessica, this is Kayla's mom," her mom answered.

Shit. She got in trouble.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Is Kayla there?" I asked. "She is, but she's not allowed to come to the phone. She'll be at school tomorrow," she explained. "Is she alright?" I asked. "Better, yes. Thanks for checking up," she said. "Yeah, no problem."

Hanging up anxiously, I sighed and drove home. As I walked up to the porch, I didn't see my package by the doorway.

Nobody was home, so it couldn't have been inside either. Walking in, I went to Dads office to check the cameras, and make sure it arrived.

As I opened up the program, I reminded the footage about two hours back. I was going to stop, until I saw something suspicious.

Going back a little bit more, I stopped, and watched it.

I saw a few people on the streets and nothing else. Finally, Dad walked out of the door with someone.

That's when my heart dropped.

Dad was kissing a woman....

That wasn't Mom.
