I woke up in the morning with a dry throat and stinging eyes. Last night was like a blur.
Another argument, but worse. So much worse.
Flashback
"Dad, relax," Noah tried getting him down. "Don't touch me. I'm okay. I'm not drunk," Dad shook off Noah.
"I can smell the liquor from here!" Mom shouted. "Mom, go upstairs," I turned her around, pointing to the stairs.
"No. You go," she said.
I shook my head. None of us were leaving anytime soon.
Nite joined in within a few minutes, barking at all of us.
Dad picked up his empty bottle. I wasn't sure what was gonna happen, but I knew it wasn't good.
"Dad, don't-" I cut myself up and slightly jumped once the glass shattered against the wall.
"Dad, you need to relax," Noah said.
I pushed Mom back and went forward.
"Jess, don't," Noah said. "Dad, just come downstairs," I tried pulling his arm, but he wouldn't budge.
"I would be so much better with Claire!" He yelled.
All went silent.
Noah and I looked at each other, both releasing our grips on Dad. I turned around and saw Mom, who was in shock. Her hand covered her mouth as she began sobbing.
"Claire?" She asked. "Ask these two. They know," he added.
My breath got caught in my throat. I looked at the ground in shame of myself and Noah. We waited too long.
I felt tears stinging my eyes, but I held them back and cleared my throat. Dad pushed his way past Noah and me, making his way towards the basement. Slamming the door behind him, the echo of the bang was the last sound to be heard.
Noah and I looked at each other again, before looking at Mom. She didn't say anything. All she did was go up to her room.
"How did he know we knew?" I managed to ask. Noah sighed, walking towards closet, and pulling out the broom.
"I confronted him," he said. "What? When?" I asked. "Why?" I added.
"Because we got into an argument a few days ago-" "Dad wasn't here a few days ago," I cut him off. "I saw him," he said.
I waited for him to continue. "Class got cancelled so I stayed home, and he brought her here. I saw them together," he explained.
I took a step back, leaning against the couch.
"Jess. That's not it," he added, sweeping up the broken glass. "What do you mean?" I looked up.
He stopped what he was doing, pushing his hair back with his hands.
"She's pregnant," he dropped his hands to his side.
I gasped. My chest felt tight and my head was light. Everything was happening too fast. One camera clip led to all this. One.
"Is it his?" I asked. He shrugged. "I don't know," he leaned his head against the wall.
Flashback Over
"Jess," Noah knocked on my door, walking in. "Why were you home?" I sat up. "What?" He asked.
"The day you saw dad and Claire. You're usually with Jenna when class gets-" "Jenna and I broke up," he cut me off.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "When?" I asked. He sighed. "A few weeks ago," he said. "Why didn't you tell anyone?" I asked.
"Can you blame me for not thinking of it as a priority?" He asked. I looked down. "You're right," I agreed.
"What happened?" I asked. He glanced out the window of my room, sighing.
"I'll tell you later. But I need the car today so I'm dropping you off at school," he said.
She broke up with him. He would've told me if it were the other way around.
"Um- okay. I'll get ready," I said.
I basically forced myself up. I didn't wanna go to school. Even the thought of it pissed me off, but it was a Friday and thinking of the weekend would get me through the day.
I trudged to the bathroom and washed my face with cold water. I sighed, knowing I'd have to do makeup.
Walking to my room, I put eye drops in and started my makeup. I took my concealer and dabbed it under my eyes, doing my best to hide any evidence of crying.
By the time I finished, Noah was already waiting downstairs with me. Mom was in the kitchen, packing up what she needed for work.
"Hi.." I softly said. "Don't be late," she said, not making eye contact with me.
"I'll see you later," she said, before leaving. I looked at Noah, who shook his head.
"She's not mad at us," he said, tossing me a snack bar. I disagreed with what he said, but nodded anyway.
Slinging my bag over my shoulder, we walked out to the car.
"Noah.. you know you can talk to me, right?" I asked.
I looked out the window as he began driving. "I could say the same to you," he said.
I looked down at my hands, then back at him. "Do you know what tomorrow is?" I asked.
"No, I-" he cut himself off. "Oh.." he said.
"Three months," I said.
Three months since I had a miscarriage. Since Austin and I's kid.. somehow.. with no explanation, passed away.
Coincidentally, as I finished the sentence, my phone vibrated with a text from Austin.
Austin
Good morning 🖤I closed my eyes. I didn't even respond. My brain didn't even think of responding as an option. I went straight to ignoring it.
"It's okay," Noah said. I nodded.
"I know," I lied.

After first period, I saw Kyle walking to class. I practically ran over to him, splitting the conversation between him and his friend.
"Hey, sorry," I forced a smile to his friend. "I need to talk to you really quick," I said.
"Uh- I'll see you in class," Kyle said, before allowing me to pull him in another direction.
"What?" He asked. "Do you have your pen?" I asked. "What?" He repeated. "Your pen," I said.
"No, I left it at home," he shook his head.
I sighed, biting the inside of my lip. Reaching into my bag, I pulled out all the money I had.
"Get me one by the end of the day, please," I pleaded. "Jess-" he was cut off by the bell ringing.
"Please," I shoved the money into his hand. Giving him no time to question me, I sprinted my way to class.
I saw it in myself.
I was falling back into my bad habits.
A/N: whenever I take 1.25 million years to update and say its "writers block," I can write a whole other chapter within thirty minutes. What is this nonsense.
Thoughts, comments, questions? I know I titled this book "Anger Issues," even though I've kinda drifted away from that point, it'll swerve back. I just need a loooooot of background stories for the characters, but we'll get there, I promise 😉

Anger Issues
Romance"You need help, Austin!" I shouted. "No I don't!" He yelled back, stepping closer to me. I looked down as fear entered my body. My fingers began shaking as tears welled up in my eyes. He cornered me, and I had nowhere to go. "Look at me," Austin...
