Jessica

Kayla picked me up just when the sun was setting. Mom let me go, because I told her we were simply hanging out. Dad was nowhere to be seen, of course.

"Where's the party?" She asked. I pulled up the address on my phone, locating it on the GPS.

"Where the fuck is that?" Kayla asked. I shrugged. "No clue," I said, looking at the unfamiliar area.

"Hold on, let me send it to Sofia quickly," she said, pulling over. I immediately smiled. "Are you two a thing, yet?" I asked.

She softly smiled. "Not yet," she softly said, starting to drive again. "I honestly think it's because nobody knows.. well, almost," she glanced at me.

"When do you think you'll open up?" I asked. "I don't know," she said, speaking softly. "I need to tell my parents first.. but we all know how that might end up," she said.

Kayla's parents were pretty religious, and not very open-minded. They were homophobic. The sweetest people ever, but only until you test them.

I understood that it would be hard for her to come out. As much as I supported her, my support was nothing compared to her parents.

"It's alright, take your time," I said. "But I am all in if you wanna do some spontaneous shit, I need happiness in my life," I exaggerated, smiling.

She let out a soft laugh and playfully rolled her eyes. "I'll definitely do that," she sarcastically nodded.

The drive was pretty long. I started texting Austin a little bit to pass the time.

Putting my phone down, I waited the long rest of the drive.

Once we arrived, it was pitch black out. The music could be heard from about two blocks away, but still, neither of us recognized the area.

"Ready?" I asked. She nodded.

Walking out, we immediately smelled weed and alcohol. The yard was already a mess. Solo cups were everywhere and people were clearly already drunk.

Walking into the house, we knew absolutely nobody but each other. Everyone was older. How did Kyle even get this party information?

It felt like a frat party seen in movies. Crazy as hell, loud, and really humid.

The house was gigantic. We made our way in, squeezing past people. Luckily, our makeup did the most to make us look older than we were.

"Holy shit," Kayla said, as we walked into the kitchen. More people were in the backyard, as seen from the windows.

"Let's start this right," I smiled, walking towards the table. Drinks were already out. Bottles were in a bucket of ice, easy to access.

I filled half a cup and took it with me, as did she. I've never had whatever this was, and it was strong as hell. It burned for a long amount of time, all the way from my throat to my stomach. It tasted horrible, but I immediately got the whoozy feeling that made it seem better.

"Sofia's here," Kayla said, looking up from her phone. "Go find her," I said. She nodded, walking away.

I walked out of the kitchen, to the backyard where people were smoking and drinking. This seemed like the more calm part of the party, probably because these were the high people.

"Yo, give the new one a hit," a deep voice spoke. I had no idea who anyone was talking to, until eyes landed on me.

"What's your name?" A girl asked, standing up. "I'm Jess," I smiled.

I was scared as fuck. This was when it hit me, that I really fucked up.

"Wanna take a hit, Jess?" She asked, handing me a rolled up blunt bigger than I've ever seen.

I was taken back by it, but hid it. I couldn't embarrass myself in front of people I didn't even know.

"You don't have to," she said. All eyes were on me. By her tone, I knew she was being partially sarcastic. I had to.

"Yeah," I nodded, grabbing it.

Eyes still remained on me. Pressing the end between my lips, I inhaled a large breath, immediately regretting it.

This wasn't weed. It tasted different, but smelled exactly like it. The smoke got caught in my throat, making me feel the need to cough.

Suppressing it, I swallowed what felt like half of what I inhaled, and blew out the rest. "Go Jess!" That same girl cheered. The group of potheads cheered, lifting up either their drinks, or blunts.

"I'm Delia, by the way," she said, continuing to introduce everyone in the group.

"You're not from here, are you?" She asked. I shook my head. "Not here, no," I said.

She took a hit from the blunt, blowing it out before passing it around. Turning back to me, she smiled.

"Welcome."
