Daniel's POV:

"They're not coming? What? Why?" The soft carpeted floor eased the blow to the bottom of my precious guitar as it slipped from my hand. It already took me a great effort to hold onto it, and strum the strings without hissing in pain. The longer I kept my fingers scrunched up, the sharper it pained, thanks to the lack of finger exercises I've been doing.

"I thought you didn't like them coming." Sam shrugged, and picked up a big red apple from the small bowl on the coffee table before making her way to the kitchen. "Like you were sarcastic, or something."

"Damn it!" Just when I actually wanted to do anything with them, they wouldn't be present. I  placed my guitar carefully on the couch, and followed my way into the kitchen. I cleared my throat to calm down my nerves. It wasn't working either way. "Maybe we could visit them after dinner? I mean Cath said that she wanted to spend some time with Brian."

She took a bite of the apple with her eyebrows raised. "And you're so eager because?"

I rolled my eyes, and walked towards her. "I promised that I would help her feel better. I am just doing what I am supposed to do. Besides, I think it's time for me to get along with Brian if he's going to be spending a lot of time with Cath."

She smirked, and jumped onto the table. "I thought I was the one with the crush on him." She winked, and swung her legs in a very distracting manner.

"It's not funny." I gritted my teeth, and took an intimidating step towards her.

She grinned, unfazed by the glare I shot her. Leave it to Samantha to laugh in all the wrong places. My jaw twitched as she trailed her long fingers across the light stubble along the edge. "I think it is."

That's it! I held onto her knees to stop her legs from swinging, and leaned closer, almost that my lips were touching her ear, and whispered in a dangerously low tone. "You say that one more time, and I am going to bang his head, right here on the floor, and have him for dinner instead."

She laughed, and pushed my chest, making me take a step back. "I didn't know you had such a wild side, Mr. Daniel, but you're going to control all of it since we're going out for dinner." She winked, and hopped off the table.

I frowned, following her out the kitchen. "You're taking me out on a date?"

She rolled her eyes, but I didn't miss the light tinge of pink on her cheeks that glowed against the bright yellow lights in the hall. "No silly, you're going to have a date with the man of your dreams. Or maybe men in this case."

"What?!" I shrieked, making her giggle.

"Didn't you want to have a date with Brian? Come on, let's go before it's late. I can't wait to see him." She winked, and ran out the door. I swear that she was going to be the death of me.
