Cath's POV:

"You were with him?" His icy tone cut slices into my heart, and I closed my eyes, trying not to flinch at the hidden accusation in his words.

"Uhh.." James cleared his throat and dropped the bag into my hands. "I think I better get going. Brian would probably be searching for me."

I sighed. At least that would be one less problem to deal with tonight. But you know how God is! He has a strict policy of 'not letting Catherine relax for a moment', for the very next second I heard him in the form of Daniel's voice. "You don't have to worry about that. Brian just called in a few minutes ago asking for your return, and I told him you'd having dinner with us."

My mouth hung open as Daniel pushed himself from the kitchen doorway and walked towards us with a smile on his face. Wait! Smile? What was he smiling about?

"Like hell that would happen!" Michael snapped. "From when were you bffs with Brian anyway?"

Daniel shrugged. "I am not, but Sam is. And Sam thought it was only manners that we invite him since it's very late."

I narrowed my eyes at him. Since when did Sam care about manners? Particularly when it is something concerned with showing courtesy to James. The world would have to burn down before it happened. How did Sam know he was with me anyway?

"Whatever." Michael rolled his eyes, and walked away before I could say anything.

"Well?" Daniel raised his eyebrows at James, making him look at him uncomfortable.

"Uh." He looked between the two of us. "I don't want to intrude."

"Nonsense! It won't be intruding when I am practically dragging you in." True to his words, Daniel dragged him inside, leaving the threw of us to stand there awkwardly in the hallway.

"Uh, I don't think that would be a very good idea." James scratched the back of his neck as he looked at me.

"Yeah." I piped in. "He probably has something important to do right now."

"I thought it was for tomorrow." He frowned. "Oww!" His face morphed into pain as I stomped on his foot. "Yeah, I do have an emergency I need to attend to."

Daniel simply smiled. "An emergency worth forgetting isn't an emergency at all. Come on, it's just one dinner. What's the worse that could happen?"

A lot considering my luck like Michael killing James, and James haunting Michael which would only make Michael scared and even more furious, and he would probably end up killing himself just so he could win his battle against James.
