"Isn't that more of an incentive to stay?"
"No. I don't want to plunge deeper into whatever you and Allison have dragged me into. You knew how I felt about all this." Adrianna threw her charger into her bag, her expression full of anger, her hands nearly shaking. She didn't know how her body made a connection to Derek, she didn't know why he felt so familiar, she didn't know why her mind was screaming at her to just embrace her powers for once when she hasn't for a long time. She just wanted to leave this town and for her mind to shut the hell up.
"I feel the same way. But yet I help. Because those teenagers need it. You could help them so much, and yourself."
"I don't want to help myself!" Adrianna was facing Chris, her body a meter way from his, her fists clenched. "The longer I stay, the more my hand will be forced. I can't-" She took in a deep breath. "I know what's happening in this town, and it sucks that those kids are stuck in the middle of it, but I can't help them."
Chris stepped closer, he hated seeing this fear on her. He couldn't comprehend why she hated herself, she can do so much good, tip the balance of her past and yet she tucked that part of her into the shadows. He hated that she truly believed she was a monster. "Adrianna. You can't deny you feel something, towards Derek, Isaac, towards this town. And what about Allison, you just came back and then you pack up and leave. There are people who want you here, and not for your powers."
Adrianna turned back to her bag and zipped it closed. "Then those people are fools. I will only bring death, and god knows this town doesn't need anymore of it."
Their heads both perked up when a knock was sounded on the door. Chris sighed, looking over at Adrianna. He turned and left to answer whoever needed him.
Adrianna sighed, closing her eyes as she leant against the bed. The worst part is, that she wanted to stay herself. She was so curious and confused about what has happened in the last few days, especially last night. Not to mention Allison was caught up in all of it, Adrianna would never let her get hurt, ever.
"Adrianna"
Adrianna opened her eyes, looking to the doorway where Chris stood with Scott by his side. She frowned, not the person she expected to see.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything." Scott said, glancing between her and her bags.
Adrianna softly shook her head, "Uh, no. What do you need?"
Scott glanced at Chris before stepping further into the room. Chris looked between them before quietly leaving, a sliver of hope igniting.
"I uh, well i wanted to thank you for helping us last night. It may not seem like it, but, you actually did help a lot."
Adrianna nodded, "Your welcome. It seemed like yous needed it."
Scott chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "Although, I'm a bit confused on some of the things that happened."
Adrianna pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, looking down to the carpet. How is she supposed to explain that. "Yeah. I can't say I know what happened either."
Scott frowned, "Has that never happened before?"
Adrianna let out a strained breath, letting her eyes raise to meet him. "No. It's just, well, it's never happened like that."
Scotts frown only seemed to deepen.
Adrianna chuckled, rather amused by her terrible explaining. "Uh, it's a long story."
Scott nodded, his eyes travelled to her bags, his head cocking to the side. "Are you leaving?"
Adrianna glanced back at the bags, slowly nodding. "Yeah. It's not really a good idea for me to stay."
Scott frowned, "Why?"
Adrianna chuckled again, "Like i said, it's a long story."
A smile filtered through Scotts lips. He rocked back on his heels, his eyes churning with confliction. A silence had fallen upon them and strangely, it wasn't uncomfortable. "Well, I sort of wanted to ask you something."
Adrianna raised her eyebrows, not sure if she wanted to know. "Yes?"
"Allison may have mentioned that you know a bit about things. Would you happen to know anything about the alpha pack?"
Adrianna let out a small breath, leaning back against the bed. His words confirm that they are here, that they want something from Scott and his friends. "I do." She said. "Um, the leader, Deucalion, he's known to be quite vicious. He lost his sight, curtesy of a man i wish i wasn't related to, but he sees more than he lets on. He killed his old pack, and the alphas that are with him now, he poked them until they were as ruthless as him. He only wants power, however he can get it."
Scott seemed nearly shocked at her knowledge, happily shocked. He wanted to get to know her, and if she knew about what they were up against, even better. "Wow."
Adrianna gave a small smile, "Can I ask, what he wants from you?"
Scott sighed, leaning against a nearby shelf. His eyes darkened, almost plagued with the knowledge he held. "I think he wants me to join his pack. But to do that. . . ."
Adrianna nodded, "You haven't told anyone, have you?"
Scotts eyes raised to meet hers, a fear in them. "No, not yet."
Adrianna sighed, this boy, he needed help. Or a break. He obviously just wants to be normal, but that's hard considering the evil that keep running after him. And she saw something in him, something that pulled her mind to a conclusion she, for some reason, didn't mind. "Look. I know what's happening in this town. The killings and the pack. And honestly, I want to be as far away from it as I can be." Adrianna watched his features swirl with confusion and understanding. She took in a deep breath, "But Allison and Chris are all I have left, and i'll be damned if they get hurt because of this world. So, if you're willing to take the help, I will help you and your friends. . . .and I'll keep your secret."
Scott stood straight, his eyes instantly brighter. He was excited to know about Adrianna, the cousin he never knew of but clearly wasn't human like the rest of her family. And maybe, just maybe, she can help him save his friends.
