blue eyes

There was fire. Screaming. Innocents burning and crying whilst everything they had built crumbled before them. Families fled, or hid in the darkest corners as the shadows past them. Children were screaming, the adults, whether it was their own parents or not, attempted to get them to quiet down.
She held her fist up, signalling halt for the army to stop behind her. She had found the man she needed. He cowered against the front of building, his face full of soot. He was shaking his head, his hands up in surrender. He begged for his life, for the lives of his town, of his friends and family. But mercy was not a trait she carried. She drew her blade and cut his head off without a blink or flinch.

Adrianna gasped awake, her eyes going wide as her body propelled itself forwards and onto her knees. She instantly regretted it when a sharp pain stabbed at her torso.

"Adrianna."

Adrianna lifted her eyes to beautiful blue ones that burnt into hers, they were full of worry and fear.

Adrianna's eyebrows pulled together as she stared at his face, his soft features that she hasn't seen since Boyds death. She snapped her gaze away from his face and looked around. Her apartment was trashed, broken bits of wood and glass lay around, her door on the floor in the lobby like area.
"What happened?"

Isaac looked around, a small sigh leaving his lips. "I was hoping you could tell me that."

Adrianna pushed herself up. Isaac instantly grabbed hold of her waist to steady her.

"Careful."

Adrianna looked down at the blood patch that had seeped through her shirt. She looked behind her to see a pool of her blood, the wooden stick next to it. Kali. Her fists clenched as anger surged through her. She was going to kill that bitch.

"Adrianna, what happened? It reeks of Deucalion and the others in here." Isaac prodded.

Adrianna let out a small breath, "They thought torture was the best way to get me to join their pack."

Isaacs hands subconsciously tightened around her waist. He looked to the blood stain then back to her. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah--" Her eyebrows pulled into a frown of confusion, "Why didn't you take me to the hospital?"

Isaac's head dropped slightly, his muscles tensing under his shirt. His lips parted slightly then quickly closed again. He sighed and looked into her eyes. "Why take a dead girl to the hospital?"

Adrianna's frown deepened. She was never too sure on how her healing worked. She knew it healed her from fatal wounds but not brought her back from the dead. She pushed herself from Isaacs grasp, stumbling over the door and down the hall.

She turned into the bathroom on her left, pausing in front of the mirror. She had a black eye and a split lip and her eyes were bloodshot.
Her shaking hands moved to lift her shirt up, revealing a thick white scar where the pole had gone through. It was a dull throb of pain that seemed to suck all her energy up, but nothing more. Strange. She died? How is that even possible? No healing brings you back from the dead. Unless it wasn't.

"Woah. . . ."

Adrianna immediately dropped her shirt, turning around to see Isaac standing in the door way, staring at her torso. Or most likely, the scars that she had hidden there. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, she hadn't wanted him to see that. She hated looking at them. "They're just scars."

She pushed past him and walked back down the hall. She pulled out a chair and carefully sat down, her face contorting in pain as she did so.

"I've just--I've never seen that many." Isaac stood a few feet away from her, his eyes carefully watching her movements and reactions.

Adrianna nodded, more to herself, and closed her eyes, letting out a tense breath. Her guilt only rose more when she looks at those scars. She hated them and the stories they carried.

Her eyes snapped open as the scraping of metal echoed throughout the room. She saw Isaac lifting up the door and placing it against the wall where it was supposed to go. "What're you doing?"

"Cleaning."

"No, you don't need to do that. I can do it just fine." Adrianna pushed herself to her feet.

"Oh really now?"

Adrianna gave a curt nod and knelt down next to a shelf that had been smashed. She picked up a photo that was laying away from its frame. It was of her parents, they were very young in this picture. Her lips pulled into a tight line and she pushed herself back to her feet with a small grunt.
Her body forgot what balance was and her head spun, causing her to fall back.

Isaacs arms were suddenly under her, cradling her back but yet somehow being careful not to hurt her. A small smirk filtered through his lips, his blue eyes swirling like a beautiful ocean. "You're in no condition to be doing anything."

"I'm fine." Adrianna's voice held little confidence for she knew she wasn't at her best, not after being stabbed. She was suddenly overly aware of everything about Isaac. The warmth that radiated off him and cuddled her, his touch, like electricity, dancing along his skin where he held her, his comfort and god, those eyes. She felt this every time she was near him, every time he saved her or she him.

Without thinking, her eyes fluttered closed and she leaned up, doing the thing she feared most but yet craved to do since she figured out what everything meant. Her lips touched his, they were soft and warm. He seemed shocked at first, his lips hesitant and his body still.

But he relaxed and his mouth parted. He tasted like fresh mint and their tongues morphed together like a puzzle. It was a fire burning bright between them, and she could get lost in the flames.

Adrianna pulled away, her breathing slightly quickened and her cheeks flushing. Isaac's blue eyes stared back at her and she could feel the same feeling he felt, pure adoration.
She cleared her throat and pulled herself gently from Isaacs grasp. She walked back to her chair and sat down, attempting to push down the deep blush and grin that desperately wanted to break out.

Isaac watched her for a few more moments, trying to process what just happened, not that he objected to it. A grin spread from ear to ear as he continued to clean up her apartment, stealing looks at her whilst he did so.
