determination

Jennifer was thrown back onto the floor but she quickly got up, her eyes frantically wide as she looked around at the three supernatural beings running at her. She threw up a black powder that landed in a perfect circle around her. Mountain ash.

Scott and Adrianna skidded to a stop at the edge of the barrier, their eyes wide. They looked to each other in frustration, taking a step back from the circle.

"Like I told you Derek, either you or the parents. Well I guess I'll just have to take them now." Jennifer seethed, venom practically dripping from her tone.

Adrianna knew this would happen. She knew that no matter what they did, no matter how they helped her, she would kill their parents. She was going to take them all along, she manipulated Derek and it fuelled Adrianna's anger to the max. Her jaw clenched and she lunged at the barrier.

A purple glow, hinged with a white hue, zapped around the point of contact Adrianna's skin made with the mountain ash barrier. She bounced off it like a ball and flew across the room, tumbling onto the floor.
But that didn't stop her.
She teleported to the barrier once more, her fists clenched and ready to do whatever it took to bring it down.

Derek grabbed her arms and yanked her back, his eyebrows set in an angered frown. He kept his grip firm on his best friend, not bothering to speak. She knew she couldn't get past that barrier, none of them could.
Adrianna settled slightly but kept her cold gaze on Jennifer.

"In a few minutes, they'll be dead, and I won't need a lunar eclipse even to kill a demon wolf." Jennifer bragged.

Adrianna was prepared to try again, to jump at the barrier how ever many times it took to bring it down. But Derek tightened his grip on her arm in warning, being fully aware of what she wanted to do.
She met his eyes, and felt the helplessness wading within her. She let out a frustrated breath, settling herself once again.

Scott looked from his raging friends to Jennifer. His mind whirled with thoughts and possibilities. He raised both his hands a few inches from the barricade.

Jennifer smiled, an evil smile that made her believe she had won. "You've tried this before Scott. I don't remember you having much success."

But Scott persisted despite all the warnings blaring in his head on how wrong this could go. He pressed his hands against the barricade, a light blue glow, mixed with white reflected around his hands as he pushed against it.

Adrianna and Derek exchanged worried glances. They prayed he could do this, he has done it once before but it's practically unheard of. But they still prayed because if he could do this, they could kill Jennifer or at least get her to stop the storm. They could save their parents. So Scott needed to do this, whether it was possible or not.

Scott pressed and pushed against the barrier, his eyes staring cold at Jennifers, not blinking, not moving. He applied more pressure on his hands, solely relying on his weight and wolf strength to help him out, even just a little. His eyes glowed their beta yellow, determination but struggle becoming clear in his eyes.

Jennifers smirk faded as she watched his progression, as she watched his determination, his unrelenting. He wasn't going to give up, he was going to try until he drops from exhaustion and it looked as if he were succeeding.

Scott grunted and extended his right arm.

Adrianna's eyes widened, her lips parting ever so slightly. What she was witnessing, this raw power, it was amazing.

Scott's breathing was too fast to be normal, his whole body shaking as he pushed and pushed. He was still staring at Jennifer, still trying to prove to her that he will do this. He will not let his friends die tonight, nor his parents, only her.

Adrianna's eyebrows knitted together and she rolled her shoulders back, wincing slightly at her recently re-located bone. She felt something, a change in Scott, a shift in his emotions and power. She took a few slow steps around Derek so she could see Scott a little better. His eyes, they had changed. They were red. Alpha red.

Scott managed to push his right leg through the barrier, alarming both Derek and the now conscious Deucalion.
He pushed the other leg through and the barrier snapped and broke, causing Jennifer to fall on her ass and leaving Scott standing inside the fallen barrier.

Adrianna couldn't contain her surprise, her pure shock. He did it, he broke the barrier. She glanced at Derek whom was just as shocked as she was.

Jennifer scrambled back, her breathing quickening as she looked Scott up and down. "How did you do that?"

Scott cocked his head ever so slightly, staring down at Jennifer. He felt a sense of accomplishment, of belonging. "I'm an alpha now."

Jennifer was shocked, unable to say anything. She was utterly astounded. Scott was a true alpha, and he'd accepted it. And more than that, he was able to break through a mountain ash barrier, not once, but twice. Now there was nothing standing between herself and these blood-thirsty wolves.

"Whatever you're doing to cause this storm, make it stop, or I'll kill you myself." Scott threatened, "And I don't care what it does to the colour of my eyes."

"It won't change the colour of mine." Deucalion was suddenly awake and on his feet. He marched towards Jennifer with fury in his eyes and dominance to his tone. "So allow me." Deucalion raised his now clawed hand and swiped at Jennifer's neck.

Jennifer's eyes bulged and she gasped for air. Blood spurted down her throat and pooled on the ground. Her hand flew to her throat and her power vanished. She reverted back to her original form, to the pale, slashed up monster she truly was. She slowly fell to the ground, her heartbeat slowing and her blood turning cold and lifeless. The thunder and lightening and vicious rain had ceased, the wind calming.
The Darach was dead.

"Hey, are you okay?" Scott asked into the phone. Stiles spoke for a few moments before Scott glanced back at Derek and Adrianna. His eyes assessed them and his mind thought back to the strange battle they just fought. He turned back to his conversation with the hint of a smile, "Sort of."
He paused again.
"Yeah, of course."
Stiles spoke some more and his words bought more of a smile to Scott's lips.
He hung up and turned around to an exhausted Adrianna and Derek.

"They're okay?" Adrianna confirmed.

Scott nodded, letting out a small breath. "Yeah, I think they are."

Adrianna slowly nodded, her shoulders slumping in exhaustion. Her Uncle was okay, they were all okay. Jennifer was dead, the alpha pack demolished and the stress of the last few months finally settling. A blissful exhaustion swept over her and she suddenly craved to be near Isaac, to feel his warmth and calm, to be reassured that she was going to be okay.

Her eyebrows pulled together rather slowly as a strange feeling washed over her, someone's else's feeling. It was dull and regretful yet determined, and held a hint of vengeance.
Her legs did the work for her and turned her body around to meet Deucalion standing behind her.
It was strange seeing him with eyes, blue pupils with white around them. It made him look younger, less deadly. But she knew better.
Her head cocked to the side, "What?"

He took in a deep breath, that whiff of regret plastering through her. What was he regretting? Or what was he about to regret?
"Such a waste, all that talent."

Adrianna narrowed her eye in on him, "What are you talking about?"

Deucalion looked up at something behind her but she dared not turn around. He pulled his lips into a firm line, as if deciding he will do whatever it is he is regretting already. He leaned in close to her, grabbing her shoulders with more force than necessary. "I am sorry Adrianna, but i made a promise."

Adrianna attempted to pull herself from Deucalions grip, horror filling her at what his words could possibly means.
Her question was answered when his fangs protruded from his gums and sunk themselves into her neck.
