"Uh. Hi." Scott seemed rather shocked to see a gun pointed at him, although sneaking up on a hunter in a parking lot late at night probably warranted for that sort of thing, especially in this town. He looked to Adrianna, as much surprise crossing his face as annoyance crossed hers.
She kept seeing this kid, at the highschool, at Deatons, at the bank and now here. All in two days. It was starting to seem like he was following her. She turned around as Scott explained another complicated situation to Chris, to see a black car parked further down the lot, two more of his friends in the front seat. It looked to be Derek Hale and the other one, Isaac. A sigh left her mouth as both wolves looked to her through the windscreen, frowns smudging across their faces. She's sure they were just as confused on why she kept showing up.
Her attention snapped back to the conversation when a certain name was mentioned.
"First of all, why would I care about anyone related to Derek? And second, I don't know this kid Boyd. I don't even know his last name." Chris was frustrated and was still holding the gun to Scott, it was rather amusing.
"Boyd is his last name."
"What's his first name?" Chris asked curiously
"Vernon."
Adrianna chuckled, uncrossing her arms. Curious name. She recognised it as the name Allison yelled in the bank, it must be one of the crazed wolves that ran out.
"And just curious, is there a reason the gun is still pointed at me?"
Adrianna couldn't help but smirk, his voice was slightly innocent, unknowing of Chris' mistrust despite them obviously knowing each other for a fair time, his eyes were warm and swelled with helplessness. It sort of clicked in her head then, Allison liked this teenager, which is why she was eager to help him, and why he was so secretive to her about Aunt Victorias death. They loved each other. So what happened?
"Because there's a part of him that wants to shoot you." Adrianna spoke up, her voice calm and surprisingly gentle.
Scott looked to her, slight confusion on how she knew such a personal fact. He looked back to Chris, watching his eyes not bothering to hide the truth of the statement. He nodded slightly, "I get that."
Chris sighed, looking at this boy he had come too appreciate. He looked to Adrianna, hating that she was right and that she knew he knew that. He quickly put the gun away and moved a few steps closer to Scott. "Scott, I watched my father brainwash my daughter, almost turn her into a killer. That world-your world decimated mine. My wife, sister, father-" He glanced at Adrianna, "my niece, my entire family. Why would I ever step foot in it again?"
Adrianna looked down, the concrete glistening with the moonlight. She hated that she understood his feelings, they were exactly what she felt. She hated that he thought he lost her, because maybe he did. She underestimated how much this world affected him, how much has happened since she left. But she was also glad he understood why she had to leave because he wanted to too.
"Because people are going to die. And because you know how to catch Boyd and Cora without killing them." Scott was practically pleading, he needed help and Chris was his last resort.
"I'm sorry." Chris said. "I can't help you." He turned and started walking to his car.
Scott looked panicked, he looked out to the open night. "Um-"
Chris stopped, turning around to look at the boy with raised eyebrows.
"Do you think you could do me like one little, tiny favour?"
Chris frowned, his eyes squinting in curiosity. He changed his stance so quickly. He nodded and gestured to the passenger seat of the car.
Scott nodded, a small smile of thanks on his lips.
Adrianna turned and started walking away. She wanted to talk to Chris more but his friends needed him, she would leave a note.
"Do you want a lift?"
She paused, half turning to look at a waiting Chris and Scott. She shook her head, "It's fine. You have things to do."
Chris shook his head, "I would like to continue that conversation before you go, are you sure?"
Adrianna sighed, glancing at Scott. Why did she have a feeling this wasn't going to go the way it's supposed to? She nodded, "Sure."
———
"Left or straight?" Chris wondered
"Left. Sorry, it's right around the corner. That parking lot there."
Adrianna looked around at the area, noticing the cars and the unsettling feeling that started fleeting in her stomach.
"Yeah, just a little further up. Right here."
Adrianna frowned when red and blue flashing lights crossed her eyes and filled the darkness that surrounded them. She could hear chatter, through radios and otherwise. She looked out the window to see an ambulance and a few police cars crowding the entrance to what looked to be a public pool. A gurney with a black zipped up bag lay outside the ambulance, ready to be loaded in. Someone was murdered. A couple stood in front of the gurney, obviously parents, crying and mourning over their loss.
"Thanks again for the ride." Scott muttered, beginning to get out of the car.
"What happened here?" Adrianna wondered, leaning further in her seat to look at the scene. Blood was pooled on the ground near the pool ladder and on the lifesavers seat. She hadn't seen something so horrific for a while.
Scott glanced back at her, surprised at her curiosity but slightly proud that he may have made an ally. "Uh, those werewolves we're tracking-"
"They did this? Boyd and uh-"
"Cora" Scott finished for Chris.
Chris looked down, his eyes full of familiarity. He doesn't like innocents getting murdered, not if he can help. He looked to Adrianna, he wanted her to help, he wanted her to stay despite knowing that she wanted out. He hoped this would convince her.
She gave him a small nod, she wouldn't stay but she would help find these wolves, it's something she has some experience in.
Chris looked to Scott, "Where's the last place you saw them?"
