"You did this for me?"
"For us. For anyone who's ever been their victim."
"Stop talking to me like a politician. Stop trying to convince me of your cause!"
The voices were foggy but loud. They continued but were muffled and she paid no mind to them. She felt bruised and battered, like she'd been rolled over by a bulldozer. But yet she was breathing, and she felt tension and anger from whoever was speaking, no arguing.
"How?"
It was Derek's voice. Derek? Derek who left. Derek who ran with Cora. Was Cora here?
"I need a guardian,"
That was Jennifers. She was here, or there, or wherever they were. Why was she with Jennifer and Derek. What were they talking about?
"And that's a role that can either be filled by the 3 parents I was forced to take or by you."
3 parents. Her Uncle, and Stiles' father, and Scott's mother. Were they alive? Why was Jennifer talking about them? Hadn't they already been sacrificed?
Adrianna finally managed to pull her eyes open. It was fuzzy, the roof and the figures in front of her. She could see Derek's outline, his tall build, he was angry, very angry. He was talking to Jennifer, he was arguing or whatever.
How the hell did she get up here? She remembered the glass breaking, and then the falling, the contact of the cold ground, the darkness.
"I can't help you. I'm not even an alpha anymore."
"All I need is for you to help me get Deucalion in the right place at the right time."
"You just killed 3 of them on your own--" Derek paused and Adrianna felt his sadness, but she couldn't see his eyes move to her body, it was just fuzzy. It all was. Fuzzy and confusing. "What do you need me for?"
"You haven't seen him at his strongest. I have. And if he's got Scott with him, I don't stand a chance. Unless I have you."
Adrianna's eyebrows pulled together, her mind swirling. She started to puzzle the pieces together, align them. Jennifer, and Derek, and Deucalion. She wanted Derek to fight Deucalion, or to help her, to help her fight Deucalion.
"Derek, don't trust her." A female voice seethed. A familiar female voice. Cora was here. She just couldn't see her.
Where was Lydia?
"I have the eclipse in my favour, but the moons only gonna be in the Earths umbral shadow for 15 minutes. That's the extent of my window. There's no decision to struggle with. Help me kill him and the others live. Just help me."
Adrianna shook her head, or maybe she didn't. She didn't know. She just knew that this was wrong. Jennifer was the wrong team, on the wrong side. Derek couldn't help her, he wouldn't. She's manipulating them. She would kill their parents still, she wants the power. Just like Deucalion, they both want power.
Adrianna somehow managed to pushed herself off the table, "Derek no."
Derek is immediately at her side, his warm hands holding her upright. He felt conflicted, angry, he still had a soft spot for Jennifer.
Adrianna shook her head and gulped. Her vision cleared and she pressed her hand into Dereks arm to help herself stand. Her body screamed at her but she ignored it. "You can't help her. She's manipulating you."
"No! I'm not, I swear."
Adrianna looked up to Jennifer, she threw her through a damn window. She had planned to kill her, except she didn't know about her pesky healing. "Then prove it. Let them go. Now."
Jennifer's lips pulled into a tight line and she looked away from her hard glare.
"That's what I thought."
Jennifer whipped her head back to them. "It's my insurance! I will let them go if Derek comes with me. I just want Deucalion dead."
Adrianna shook her head, looking to Derek. His brown eyes swirled with emotion, confusion. He wanted to help the others, he wanted Deucalion dead too. What if this was the better of two bad options?
Adrianna sighed, clenching her jaw in anger. "Then I'm coming with you."
"No--"
"I'm not letting you go alone Derek."
---
Scotts voice suddenly started propelling from Jennifer's phone, he sounded angry but tired.
Adrianna peered over Jennifer's shoulder and to the phone. Scott had send her a video, they were in an old warehouse it looked, no where particular, but Jennifer seemed to know it.
"You talk about balance, about saving people. We know what you really want, and now you know where to find us."
The video ended and Scotts face disappeared from the screen. Jennifer shut her phone off and clenched her hand around it. She looked up in anger, and perhaps shock?
Adrianna smirked and stepped away from Jennifer, crossing her arms over her chest. "That crown's starting to slip isn't it?"
Jennifer snapped her head up to her with a scowl before walking off towards wherever Scott and Deucalion were waiting.
---
Adrianna could feel Scotts surprise from a mile away as he noticed Derek and her emerge from behind Jennifer amongst the fog that surrounded them. She knew all the questions that were brimming at his mind because they would be the exact same ones that were brimming at hers when he left them for Deucalion. She knew it was unfair to keep that fresh in her mind, to hold that against him, but that's how she felt.
"What are you doing?" Scott asked, in a soft but hurt tone. His eyes flickered between Adrianna and Derek. He didn't want to fight them. He won't.
Derek glanced at Jennifer, "This might be hard to be believe but, I'm actually trying to help you."
Adrianna opted to stay silent, she wasn't here for Jennifer, surprisingly she wasn't here for Deucalion, she was simply here to protect Derek and Scott. Who knows what either of those monsters had up their sleeves.
"Ooh, like brother against brother. How very American this is." Deucalion taunted. He started to fold up his walking cane, not an ounce of doubt or fear coming off him. "Are you ready Jennifer? Hmm? Did you gather your herbs?" He took off his jacket. "Pray to your ancient gods and your oak trees? Slit a baby's throat perhaps?" Adrianna couldn't help but be amused at Deucalions taunting. "Should we show them why you needed to sacrifice 9 innocent people just to face me? Or is it 12 now?" Deucalion stepped forwards and his face had contorted into his beast. Into a monster with rippled skin and strong muscles, with a darkened tone taken over his usual pale one, with his voice going too deep to be natural. He glowed his eyes at her, a full circle of bright red.
Adrianna wasn't shocked, unlike Scott and Derek, she'd seen his true face before. But she couldn't deny how unnerving it was to watch.
Deucalion smirked and ran at them, the challenge was set and he would be the victor.
