"Good morning. As you know, Mr Harris is still missing--I mean, sick. Anyway, I'm filling in while we all hope and pray for a more qualified substitute to take my place." Ms Black clapped her hands together, "Okay so, let's get started shall we?" She offered a small smile to the class before going around the desk and starting todays content.
Adrianna watched her with a cold look, there was something severely off about that teacher. She just, felt wrong. And god, even her voice was annoying.
"Hey." Stiles whispered, nudging Adrianna slightly.
She turned around to face him and Scott with raised eyebrows. "My dad said that the E.R attending wasn't strangled but did die from asphyxiation, they just don't know how."
Adrianna's eyebrows drew together slightly, it was the same wound but a different cause. Strange.
"Do you think the on-call doctor could still be alive?" Scott questioned.
"I don't know. But Scott, there's got to be at least 20 other doctors in that hospital. At least, you know. Any one of them could be next."
Scott nodded slightly, he had been thinking the same thing. There was no way to predict who got taken next. Unless. . . .
His eyes travelled up to Adrianna, an idea popping into his head that clearly could be seen through his eyes.Adrianna shook her head, "Absolutely not. I can't just pluck answers out of thin air."
Scott sighed, if she had the abilities to do what they needed, he would not mind getting on his knees and begging. His mind was brought out of their thoughts as his phone vibrated.
Adrianna shook her head and turned back to the front, her eyes once again landing on Ms Blake. She didn't feel human, she felt. . . . it was hard to explain. Different. Like something was stopping Adrianna from feeling what she truly was. Like a magic wall.
Her head suddenly snapped up when Scott flew out of the room with his bag, leaving a trail of absolute concern and panic behind. She turned to look at Stiles with raised eyebrows.
Stiles had his phone on his ear, "We need to go."
---
"Alright, we're gonna do everything we can. Right now, the best thing you can do is go back to school." The Sherriff offered a smile of condolence to Scott before walking off to join his team.
Adrianna was standing in the middle of the room, her eyes closed as she tried to feel for anything. She could feel panic but yet a sense of hope. Deaton had been here, and the Darach had taken him. And she had no idea how to help Scott find him.
"Hey." Stiles gently said.
She turned around to face him. He nudged his head to a room behind them before following Scott in that direction. She gave one last look around the police scattered clinic before following them.
Scott quietly closed the door behind him and walked over to the cat cages where Adrianna and Stiles stood. "We have to tell him."
"You mean like tell him tell him, or tell him something else that isn't telling him what i think you want to tell him." Stiles responded.
"You know what I mean."
"You remember how your mum reacted? She didn't look you in the eyes for like, a week."
"And she got over it."
Stiles rolled his eyes.
"And--And it actually made us closer." Scott attempted to convince.
"I thought he knew?" Adrianna mentioned, looking to Stiles with a slightly confused expression.
Stiles sighed, "No. I haven't got around to it yet. It's just--It's not an easy conversation." He moved his eye line to look at his father through the small window on the door. "I don't know dude. I mean, look at him. Come on, he's completely overwhelmed as it is."
"He's overwhelmed because he has no clue what happening. He's got people dying in his town, the town he's supposed to protect, and it's not his fault he doesn't know what's happening. He's gonna find out sooner or later."
Stiles pulled his lips into a straight line. "Yeah, but is now really the right time?"
"Stiles, I don't think there is ever going to be a right time." Adrianna agreed with neither one of them completely. She understood Stiles need to protect his father from this world, but he is none the safer not knowing about it.
"What if not telling him now gets someone killed?" Scott pressed.
"What if not telling him gets him killed? Huh?"
Adrianna suddenly cocked her head to the side, her eyebrows pulling together ever so slightly. Maybe she could figure out a way to find Deaton, if she had the right ingredients. "I'm sorry, I have to go." She gave Stiles' arm a light squeeze. "Do what you think is best, for your father and for yourself."
Stiles gave her a small nod before she left the room and the heavy conversation.
