Chapter 4: A New Day
Red set the breakfast table beside the bed and drew the curtains bathing the room in glaring early morning sunshine.
“Wake up sleepy head.” Tinapik niya ang pwet ni Kate. Umikot si Kate, only to be shocked by the bright sunlight.
“Hmmm… where am I?” She slowly opened her eyes and was shocked at the unfamiliar surroundings. Her head was pounding. She shut her eyes, but the brightness would not be shut out. Her head was pounding.
“Somewhere safe.” He answered.
Kate was afraid to open her eyes. She tried to remember where she was last night. The bar. Grandpa’s men. The parking lot. The car.
She shot up to a sitting position almost knocking off the lap table put beside her by Red. Then, she realized she was in a white shirt. Not hers. She was also naked underneath except for her panties.
Shit! What happened last night? May nangyari kaya?
She tried to feel her body. Is she sore? The only thing hurting in her body is her head. Medyo sore ang nipples niya at may konti siyang naramdamang pamamaga sa mga labi niya pero that's it.

“How did you end up in my car?” Tanong ni Red na ngayon ay umupo sa dulo ng kama. “Dahil ba doon sa mga lalaking humahabol sa’yo?”
“Ayokong pag-usapan.” Maiksing sagot ni Kate.
“Okay.” Napangiti si Red, naalala ang prangkang babae na nakilala niya 5 years ago. “Kumusta naman pakiramdam mo? Nasuka ka kagabi kaya pinapalitan ko ang damit mo kay Manang.”
Kaya pala… Naisip ni Kate.
“You can stay here as long as you want. Nandyan si Manang. She will take care of you. I just need to go to work.”
“Thanks, but I think I need to leave na din.”
Paalis na si Red sa pinto nang tumawag si Kate.
“By the way, I’m Kate.” Ngumiti si Red. Binalikan ang kinaroroonan ng babae.
“I’m Red.” Red held out his hand for a handshake which Kate readily took and they shook hands. The gesture made Red smile.
