"Okay, that's a wrap on today. Good work everyone." Ms. Eli clapped her hands with satisfaction as the dancers dispersed from their positions in the studio to get some water; some even began leaving the studio. The sun was dipping below the horizon, telling Seulgi that it was around 7pm already.
"Holy hell, this dance is the fastest dance I've ever danced." Irene panted as she dropped to the wooden floor with a thump, pink bottle in hand.
"Hell is holy?" Seulgi questioned, slightly delirious from the blood rushing everywhere around her body.
"Dude." Irene laughed, her cheeks puffing up adorably as she nudged the laughing girl beside her. "Look here comes your partner."
"Hm?" Jungkook plopped himself down in front of the two girls and lifted the rim of his bottle to his pink lips, drinking heartily. Seulgi couldn't help but watch as his adams apple bobbed up and down, shining with sweat.
Why is that kinda hot?
"How have you already managed to make a friend? The only person in the boys team that actually talks to me is Hoseok hyung." He furrowed his brows, asking Seulgi as he dipped his head to acknowledge Irene.
"If Hoseok talks to you that's a big thing. He's the best dancer and really popular." Irene's long, wavy ponytail swung as she spoke with awe.
"Not if you've slept over at his house more than 300 times and your parents have asked him to babysit you multiple times, even though you're already 18 and you can take care of yourself. And bonus points if he was the one that ended up being babysat." There was clear annoyance in his voice and all Seulgi could do was chuckle as Irene gaped in awe of how close the two were.
"Wow." She finally spoke after shutting her mouth.
"Yep. I've known him since I was 15." Jungkook finished, pursing his lips.
"Damn." Still in a small shock, Irene jumped when her phone began ringing loudly from the side pocket of her bag. She pulled it out and picked up the call. "Hello? Yes, yes, yes! Oh my God, Joy chill your ass, I literally just got here. Yes, your boyfriend is here. No, I'm not going to say hi to him for you, you can do that yourself. Yes, there's a girl named Seulgi here. Wait what?" Irene pulled the phone away from her ear and covered the speaker, directing her voice towards Seulgi. "You know Joy? Hoseok's girlfriend?"
"Yeah we went to high school together and she's my best friend. Are you guys room mates?" She knew she should've been surprised, but honestly, this world was too small for that.
"Yeah. Go figure. Anyways, I'll see you guys on Thursday for practice." She hopped up and was out of the door in a split second, leaving Seulgi and Jungkook in the studio alone with the two instructors.
"Hey, you two, go and get some food and rest. Great dancing though, I'll be honest I was quite worried about you two not being able to catch up, but you've definitely proved me wrong." Mr. Key smiled in their direction but then zoned in on Seulgi, his tone firm but calm, "Seulgi, you're going to need to work on your splits though. You're almost there, there's just a bit of space between you and the floor, but that space is what's bringing your kicks down. Think you could get it by the end of this month?"
Seulgi's eyebrows shot upwards in shock. How would she ever get her splits down that fast? It was already the 18th of September.
"Okay." She told him as she hopped up, Jungkook following suit. "I'll try my best."
"Good." With that, the two dancers left the studio and went out for some fried chicken at the same Burger King as the day before.
Dinner was silent for awhile, the ringing of the door opening and closing for other customers leaving and coming being an exception.
"Hey Jungkook? Are you and Jimin close?" Her brain was spinning from what her room mate had told her earlier that day, and she desperately wanted answers.
"Um, we were in the same group of friends, are in the same group of friends, but we've had some... issues. So not so close. We were never-"
"Are you Jimin's ex?" Seulgi blurted out catching Jungkook with his guard down. He was hungry and just wanted to eat, it was really not time to discuss these matters.
"No, that's Taehyung." He replied with a tired ease.
He's tired, so he'll spill.
"Do you know much about him?" She pressed further leaning on her elbows that were propped up on the table, her drumstick now helplessly cast away to her paper plate.
"I know the basics." Honestly, the boy just wanted to get home and sleep so for 20 minutes, he rambled on about what he knew: Jimin had problems at home, Taehyung was the only one who he trusted, Taehyung was caught cheating on him (he didn't mention that it was him), so Taehyung closed his heart off just like Jimin did.
"Oh my God." Jungkook finished with a "that's basically it" and now all Seulgi wanted to do was give the blond boy, who was probably laying on the sofa doing nothing, a big hug.
The rest of dinner went by talking about dance and school, the Jimin situation floating at the back of the girl's mind, ready to pounce when she saw him next, which would be that night.
By the time they split, the raven head was ready to jump and give Jimin all of her love.
Platonic love.
But when she burst through the door, the apartment was dark and eerily quiet. She dropped her bag, wincing when she heard her phone hit the floor, but didn't stop as she pushed Jimin's slightly ajar door to open further.
She checked the clock: 8:43.
Where are you?
She decided he couldn't be long, they had school tomorrow, so he'll be back soon.
She didn't know where Jimin was but she knew it was probably important, so she decided to wait.
And it was important.
