Blood rushed through her thumping veins, each step beside Jimin being one closer to Jungkook. Seulgi was beginning to get second thoughts on what she was about to do.
"Seulgi are you sure you're okay?" Jimin snapped her out of her thoughts as they made their way to the cafeteria to grab food. No response came from the girl with the black hair so he left it.
They ate in silence after bringing their trays to the bleachers by the field where boys were kicking around a ball blanketed in mud and slushy snow. The sunlight burned the backs of their hoodie's but the chill neutralised it, making it a comfortable space. Comfortable enough that they didn't notice the brunet and the silver head walking in their direction.
"Seulgi?" Both their heads popped up, a leaf of Jimin's salad falling from his half-open mouth on to the cool metal under them.
"H-hey Kook." She smiled uneasily, the familiar nickname rolling off her tongue heavily like bricks. The other two boys watched with confusion at the odd encounter.
"Um," -he coughed- "can we talk?"
"Uh," Seulgi peered to the blond in front of her, who plainly shrugged and continued to shove greens into his mouth, "sure." She stood and to her surprise, the brunet stuck his hand out- awkwardly, but its the thought that counts- and she slipped her fingers between his to save him the embarrassment of rejection.
Once they found a safe and quiet spot under a large oak tree they released hands, fingers slick with sweat before standing before each other.
"You wanted to talk?" Seulgi broke the silence, her gaze fixed on the dying grass between them.
"Yeah."
"What about?" That was a stupid question. Obviously he wanted to talk about them. In fact...
"I wanna break up." The brunet snapped his head up as the words left the ravenette's mouth.
More like tumbled out.
"What?" His voice was even, but it was quiet. "Why?"
Seulgi was beginning to doubt that he wanted to talk about the termination of their relationship now, but it was too late. She couldn't fix it.
"I'm sorry." She blurted finally looking up at him. Blank, dark eyes were blinking at something in the distance. They were as dark as night, no, darker, like the black holes that formed in space. And just like space had stars, his eyes had sparkles that would brighten when she saw him. But now, they were only blank.
Jungkook doesn't deserve a shitty girlfriend.
"It's for the both of us." She finished, voice breaking.
"Okay." He dipped his head, his ability to speak sucked out of him and evaporated into the clear sky above them, an invisible cloud of despair forming around their heads. Nothing was flowing through his mind, no thoughts, no words, just, blank.
"Did you want to talk about something?" Seulgi was surprised at how even her tone was, after all, her heart was cracking at what she's done.
"Um..." Jungkook trailed off, he grasped for something, anything, to talk about but there was nothing. It was just,
Blank.
"I was going to break up with you too-" SHIT. A lie. A straight up lie. But there was nothing else left for him to say. Surprisingly, when he looked up there was no shock on her face. Everything was well hidden- except her hurt.
Neither could deny the fact that their feelings for each other were more than real before, but there was a side of Jungkook that Seulgi hadn't seen before, but she'd accepted it for him.
But he hadn't.
She must've expected me to break up with her.
Maybe that's why she-
"Okay, I get it." Seulgi nodded slowly and started towards the bleachers again, desperate to be in the company of her room mate. Jungkook followed slowly behind, something else blooming in his chest.
Hope?
Freedom?
Relief?
A mix of the three; he felt all. There was no denying that in recent times, Taehyung had managed to lure him in all over again. So as he turned back into the field, spying his room mate sitting on the bleachers goofing around with the blond, he smiled a small smile knowing that maybe now he has a chance.
That kiss?
It wasn't okay then.
But it's okay now, 'cause he's single.
And they would be perfectly fine.
Oof.

"...THAT!?" As Seulgi neared the bleacher boys, she heard this exact word burst from a red faced Taehyung, who was spilling over with laughter. "Oh my God, I wish I was there to see it." His laughs rang in her ears as she stepped up to her seat again, forcing a smile.
"Oh hey Seulgi." Jimin turned to her, giddiness glittering his eyes too as he breathed in huge amounts of air to replace what he laughed out.
"Hey." She spoke softly, plopping herself down on the bleachers. She poked mindlessly at her macaroni and cheese, gulping when she saw Jungkook reach them.
The silver haired boy turned and saw the downcast expression on his best friends' face and knew something went down. "Would love to laugh more with you Chim, but Jungkook and I have some stomachs to fill." He winked at the blond who only rolled his eyes playfully. "Ta ta!" With that he left, taking the brunet with him with a quick flourish of his fingers.
"Seulgi-"
"I'm okay."
Jimin sighed, knowing fully well that something went down from the second she sat down.

The cafeteria was already mostly empty; everyone else had finished eating and were either outside or somewhere else. All that was left were the Math club who had just had a meeting, that one group that would always just chill in the cafeteria, and, of course, our beloved boys.
"So," Taehyung started, sitting across Jungkook at their usual table that lacked the older boys. "What happened?"
"She, uh," Clearing his throat Jungkook lifted his fork, only to stab at the macaroni he wasn't going to eat, 'She broke up with me."
"Oh." Taehyung gulped, unsure what to say next. "You okay with it?"
"Yeah." The nonchalant tone Jungkook spoke with surprised both of them into a comfortable silence. "I care about it though." He said after awhile, not wanting Taehyung to think he didn't care at all.
"I know." The silver haired boy replied with a shrug, poking one of the brunet's macaroni onto his fork before popping it into his mouth. Jungkook's jaw dropped just a bit, enough to make Taehyung smile, his cheeks poofing up adorably.
Jungkook couldn't help but smile back.
