Danwon-gu.

Home.

Seulgi inhaled the piercing yet refreshing cold air of her hometown as she stepped out of the train station. Sighing, she closed her eyes, relieved to be away from the boy drama that managed to creep into her life in only her first semester.

"Seulgi?" A light voice called. It was familiar and the raven haired girl swung her ponytail to face the sweet voice.

"Eomma!" Her cheeks puffed as her lips pulled into a wide grin, dimples and everything. She ran to her mother before embracing her in a tight hug. "I've missed you! How's everything at home? Have you been taking care of yourself? I've been worried, you're alone."

The older woman giggled as her daughter's brow creased with worry. "I've been okay Seulgi. I'm glad you're home."

"Okay, good." She sighed, taking her mother's hand in hers as they walked to the car. "It's just, now with Dad and Wendy gone, and me at university most of the time, you have no one to care for you."

"I'm fine." Her mother replied, squeezing her daughter's fingers and swallowing, remembering who was at home. "Let's get you home."

As the old, oak front door to their house screeched open, she smiled, as a scent of gingerbread cookies wafted towards her.

"I didn't know you invited people over already?" Seulgi asked, rolling her suitcase into the living room. She pulled it to a stop before following the sweet smell.

"Seulgi..." Her mother's voice drifted off as she listened to the bustling work of a busy baker. When she peered into the doorway however, someone unexpected was standing there.

"Wendy?!" Seulgi couldn't keep the anger from her voice as the baker spun round, her lips forming a soft 'o' shape.

"Seulgi your sister..." Her mother trailed off as she stepped into the kitchen watching her two children.

"Seulgi." Wendy spun round, donned in a floral apron, her floral apron. Not Wendy's. Her's.

"What the fu-"

"Language." Seulgi's mother warned. Not that she really noticed, the blood pumping in her ears was too loud and the emotions building up in her chest too heavy.

"Hey Seulgi." Wendy plastered a weak smile on her face, stepping towards her younger sister. She got close enough for a hug, so close...

"No, get off bitch." Seulgi snarled before shoving her sister away and storming out of the kitchen, the calls of protest from her mother and sister fading away as she slammed the front door behind her. It took Wendy approximately 3.8 seconds to recover from the odd reaction before stripping the apron off and running after her.

To be truly honest, you'd think Seulgi would be happy, no, more than happy to see her sister. It's been almost 6 years since they've seen each other and no only that, but they were so close.

Were.

Wendy left her, ditched her, left her to care for their mother all alone when she was only 15. The flood of emotions that built up when she first saw her were threatening to explode in her chest, to take her out right there on the peaceful, old white bench outside.

"Seulgi?" The girl closed her eyes, willing her older sister to turn back in and forget about her. She came home relaxed and excited to finally get away from the drama at school, but only to find out there'll be more at home. She curled her legs into her chest, trapping as much warmth as she could.

"Seulgi, talk to me, please." Wendy pleaded, her own dark bangs brushing the top of her brows as she wrapped the younger one in the coat she left inside.

"What is there to talk about?" Seulgi whispered, not facing the girl beside her.

"Why are you so mad?"

Why?

"What do you mean why?" Seulgi shifted, glaring into her sister's ebony eyes. They were pleading for something, forgiveness maybe. "You left me for some person you'd only known for 3 months! You left me and Mom." She was growling now, suddenly her entire body was warm like it was summer again.

"Mom understood." Wendy's voice was even and her hair was tied back into a bun. From far, it probably looked like they were discussing business, not family ordeals. "Why can't you understand?"

"Dad left Mom for some chick that was, like, 19 years younger. Yet you chose to leave us and follow him, just to get what, who, you wanted. You're fucking selfish." Seulgi shrugged the coat off and stood.

"Sit." They both turned round to see their mother standing just a few feet away. Seulgi immediately followed; she hadn't heard her mother's sharp voice in a long time.

"Mom I was just about to tell Seulgi." Wendy said in a smooth, even tone.

"Tell me what?" The younger girl furrowed her brows, her tone clipped and cold.

Their mother sighed before taking a seat between the two girls. "Your father took Wendy-"

"She chose to go." Seulgi corrected, but that earned her a stinging glare from the woman which shut her up instantly.

Deep breath. "Your father and Wendy left, 5 years and 3 months ago when we got divorced. Yes, Wendy was given the choice to stay with us, but your father wanted her too. You, on the other hand, refused to leave me and stuck by my side." She smiled warmly at her youngest daughter, which slowed her heartbeat down. "Wendy left to be with Seo Joon, which didn't end well."

I knew it. She should've just stayed. Seulgi peered over her mother to where her sister was now looking down into her lap, sadness sagging her shoulders. She bit her lips to stop her from saying 'I told you so'.

"3 years." Wendy stated. "I was with him for 3 years before I found out he cheated on me." A sharp sting pierced through Seulgi, she was told an intense story about someone who was cheated on, how broken they felt. Maybe it was the same. "I didn't leave because I wanted to leave you, I left to be with him. But it sucked." The three of them sat in silence for awhile to let the emotions set in.

"Wendy continued staying with your father, but..." She trailed off and when Seulgi looked up, she was surprised to see tears in her mother's eyes. "He got sick. He was in the hospital for almost 4 months before he passed away from cancer. That was 2 months ago.

"I invited Wendy back for Christmas 'cause she had no one else to spend it with. I just hope that you can be civilised for the two weeks that you're here for." Before the two could say anything, she stood and walked in, her steps controlled and her spine straight. Seulgi peered to her sister, who was happily baking just 6 minutes ago and now, she was upset and broken all over again.

"Sorry." Seulgi apologised in a voice so quiet, Wendy almost didn't hear her. She stepped away and into the house again.

"Me too."

hihi sorry again for the delay. you'd think since it's summer that i'd have more time to write.

just to clear it up, yes, wendy is older than Seulgi in this, but honestly i can't be bothered with specific ages so you can make it up :)

i also really wanted to find a way to get wendy into the story since everyone else already was, and i felt bad for leaving her out.

cool thx
