Two weeks later.

It'd been 14 days.

14.

But she wasn't waking up.

Jimin sighed as he stepped into the sterile white walled box that held the girl of his dreams for the millionth time.

When's she gonna wake up?

His heart sunk further and seated himself in the same white cushioned armchair as always.

Will she ever wake up?

Unable to bear the thought, he pulled a yellowing paperback out of his bag and sighed. He was exhausted out of his mind, even with exams over. As soon as the final paper was collected, everyone began celebrating with Joy, and there was, of course, a party at the Hyung Apartment. But he didn't go. Put aside the fact that everyone had been asking him where Seulgi was. Answering was never easy.

The door swooshed open silently and he looked up, only to see a somewhat familiar smile.

"Hey Joy." He smiled, taking his glasses off and placing them aside.

"Hey." She replied with a smile herself, but it didn't exactly reach her eyes.

Silence filled the room, neither feeling comfortable in each other's presence without Seulgi's.

Seulgi when she's awake that is.

"She was so happy." She whispered. If the room wasn't so quiet, Jimin might not have heard.

"I know." He replied simply, not knowing what else to say.

"It was you, you know?" She said again, turning to him with blank eyes.

Jimin's blood ran cold.

What did she mean it was him?

His fault that she's like that?

That she's barely alive?

"You made her so happy." She laughed humorlessly, still standing by the unconscious body.

"What?" Jimin moved his sights from Joy to Seulgi, watching her, her black hair splayed out like a black rose on the blindingly white pillow. Even with all the bandages and bruises, she was still breathtaking.

"You made her happy." She repeated, moving her sights from Seulgi to Jimin, his dark eyes and disheveled gorgeousness turned to Seulgi, a look in his eyes she never saw in Hoseok's.

Probably because Hoseok fooled his heart that it was for me.

Joy shook her head slightly, dispelling the thought from her head.

"I made her happy." He said to himself. Jimin's heart squeezed tight in his chest, his eyes on Seulgi. She was the epitome of perfection.

Silence flooded the room again, allowing no sound except the soft hum of the AC.

Sunlight washed over the white walls and floors in slits through the cream colored blinds. The gold light hit her body where the skin was still intact, shadows concealing the minor bruises and cuts away making her look angelic.

The room door pushed open again, allowing a nurse to walk in with a smooth rolling cart of bandages and disinfectant.

"Hi." She bowed her head in respect and the two followed suit. "Dr. Bong Gi wanted me to tell you that she's recovering well." The nurse smiled again and walked to Seulgi's side where Joy stood. The tall girl stepped aside and went to sit on a spare chair in the corner by Jimin.

They watched silently as the nurse carefully unwrapped bandages, revealing bigger, more gruesome cuts that made both of them wince. Although it has been weeks, she was recovering slowly and it frightened everyone.

Her sister and mother had come to visit just a few days ago, but had to go back to Danwon-gu due to some issues at Wendy's new office.

When it was over, the blood crusted bandages had formed a pile on the steel tray and the healing cuts were wrapped in fresh fabric.

"The cuts are scarring now, this will be the final of the bandages." The nurse smiled again, hazelnut dyed hair bobbing in a ponytail.

"How's the rib?" Jimin asked nervously as the nurse was just halfway through the door. She turned and smiled softly.

"Getting better." And then she and the tray rolled out.

He sighed and sunk back into his chair. He'd seen how hard the car had crashed into her side and the way she was sent sprawling across the tarmac.

He knew that Joy was always close to her but she wasn't there when it happened.

She wasn't there when-

The bedsheets ruffled.

A chair scooched.

"Gi?" Joy whispered. Jimin snapped out of his thoughts and saw Joy in her chair, so close to the edge of the bed, blocking his view from the patients face.

"Joy?"

That voice.

Jimin's heart stopped.

She was awake.

She was alive.

Her voice was croaky as if her throat was desert dry but she was still speaking.

She was alive.

All this while, the speed, more like lack thereof, of her recovery had scared the living days out of him. He was just waiting for the inevitable. But this...

"... you tomorrow." He heard Joy say as she brushed a hair out of her best friends face. Joy turned around, her straight sheet of silk hair brushing over her shoulders softly as she smiled and Jimin and mouthed 'see you tomorrow'.

Then she walked around the bed, through the white door and with a click, it shut behind her retreating steps.

Jimin was frozen in his seat like there was glue on the chair. Seulgi only stared at the ceiling with slow, blinking eyes.

She's blinking.

He watched her breathe, the rise and fall of her chest shallow, but still present.

She's breathing.

"Are you gonna come here or not?" She spoke, her throat burning with dryness, every single part of it craving moisture.

"I-" He sighed, feeling a sting in his nose and eyes. He was tearing up, he knew it, but she couldn't see that. He stood and placed his book down, page face down so he wouldn't lose his place. Then, he walked over to her and sat at the chair Joy had left behind.

"Welcome back Seulgi." Jimin smiled sadly. She wouldn't turn to him.

"Hey Jimin." She smiled back. It soon faltered. "Where's Kook?" Her brows furrowed. The broken rib hurt like burning fire, but she was determined to know.

"Not here." His heart sank. "Why?"

"Why wouldn't he be here?" Something in her heart coiled, a dull coldness. Finally, she managed to move her neck just enough to be able to look at him.

He looked so tired and pale and-

He was so sad.

"Why would he be?" Something was wrong. Even more wrong then the situation they were already in.

"Because he's my boyfriend." Her expression relaxed, as if she was stating the obvious. But inside, she was worried and panicked.

"Oh."
