The water was warm but it felt like ice sliding down his tired muscles. He felt incomplete without her, even when he couldn't see her at least he knew she was there.

But now she wasn't.

His body was cleaned of any dust and dirt but it still felt as if he had blood smeared over his knuckles and fingertips. Her blood.

She was probably lying in a hospital bed by now, unconscious, bloody scrapes and wounds being cleansed while she recovered ever so slowly.

Or maybe she wasn't recovering.

He couldn't bear the pain and cold so he turned the water off, the emptiness comfortable. In swift and silent moves, he dried off and put on some sweats and a hoodie from the spare clothes he'd left in this apartment. He remembered to leave all of his stuff here, just to slow anyone who came to search for him.

As he peeled out from his bedroom, he didn't hear water or shuffling from either of the other guest rooms. The doors were ajar and Jimin knew either boy well enough they wouldn't leave it open unless they weren't in there.

Sighing, Jimin took tentative steps towards the living room, not rounding the corner when he heard voices. Stepping back, he headed for the secret exit route he'd discovered awhile back.

The apartment was cool and refreshing, he was tempted to just curl up in the room and sleep, but he couldn't. He wouldn't be able to sleep.

So he quietly pulled the storage room door open and slipped inside like a spy on a mission. He fumbled around for the-

Soft, footsteps padded by him.

Panicked, he slammed himself against the wall with grace as the footsteps went by. Maybe someone was looking for him. He heard his room door be pushed open and stopped breathing completely when a shadow neared the still open storage door. After a second, it disappeared around the corner and he knew he had been found out.

This is going swell.

When his heart reached a normal pace again, he felt the wall for a turning doorknob and when he felt the cold metal under his fingers, twisted it open.

Almost immediately he was hit by the humid warmth of the stairwell. He'd found this exit one day when everyone was sleeping, when he was hit with sudden insomnia. He figured it was an emergency exit of some sorts at that time and was glad he remembered about it. He hopped into the stairwell silently and made his way out of the building, pulling his hoodie up and braving the cold walk home.

Jin stood quickly, shocking a quite relaxed Namjoon out of his seat.

"Hyung, sit." Yoongi's low and calm voice was not what the boys were expecting, so the older man obliged. "He wouldn't go anywhere dumb."

Though Yoongi did want him here so that he could keep an eye on him, Jimin probably needed to be alone for awhile.

"He probably went home." Jungkook said softly. The rest of the boys looked up at him expectantly like he was going to say more, but instead, he stood from his place on the carpeted floor.

"I would if the person I loved was close to death." He muttered under his breath, not loud enough for most boys to hear, but Taehyung heard it loud and clear as if he shouted it into a loudspeaker.

Was that deliberate?

To only let the one boy hear?

Taehyung peered up to Jungkook, only to see his pyjama clad legs walking off towards his bedroom.

"G'night Kook." Hoseok called, but the younger boy didn't answer; he only walked on, shoulders slumped.

"Good night." Taehyung whispered, heart sliding down his rib cage like it too, was exhausted. Exhausted of chasing this one boy around, never getting to him, and always breaking and shattering when the boy would fall.

But he would never reach him.

"Taehyung." The boy snapped out of his stupor and turned his head towards the voice. "Are you okay?" Jin stepped towards him and knelt down beside him.

"Yeah, of course, why wouldn't I be?" He put a smile on, one that would usually fool the boys because he was the best actor.

"Because," Jin smiled softly, gently swiping his thumb across Taehyung's golden cheekbone, "You're crying."

"I'm not-" His voice stopped, tears choking his throat. Dropping his head, he breathed deeply one, two, three times before lifting his head again. "I'm not crying."

Jin stood and extended a hand to the boy on the floor, lifting him into a hug. No words were said, just warmth and trust and comfort swirling around the two bodies.

"Good night Tae." Jin pulled back and walked off towards his room, following the other boys who had taken off for the night.

And only when the final door shut did he go off to his room, only he knew he wouldn't be sleeping.

The door creaked open under Jimin's push as he stepped back into his apartment. It felt to think that he had just been there that afternoon.

It was crazy to think that it was still Saturday.

Saturday, when he had an episode.

Saturday, when she saved him from himself.

Saturday, when he danced the night away.

Saturday, when a car came zooming down the road, too fast for her to notice.

His chest heaved in a sob and he quickly shut the front door before collapsing back against it. He dug the heels of his hands into his eyes and slid down the wall, tears flowing freely.

He stayed leaning against the door for what felt like forever until finally his world shaking sobs turned to hiccups and his waterfall of tears slowed to liquid drops of crystal. Only then he stood and walked to his room, numb from fear and guilt as he flopped into his bed.

Curtains hung on either side of the window, allowing the pale moonlight shine through with the twinkling stars. The sky was deliciously dark, the perfect night for just sitting by the window with a book and using a pale white light so the words are visible. The square was alive, the fairy lights that were strung across the spacious square twinkling like stars, the glorious fountain in the centre ruling the area. Only a few souls stumbled across the cobblestone.

A sudden chill crept across his cheeks, sending an uncomfortable tingling down his spine.

He'd never felt like that in the comfort of the apartment before.

Everything felt so...

Empty.

All he wanted to do was curl up in his bed and sleep the exhaustion and pain away.

So he did.

And when he was finally tucked into the safety of his duvet, did he allow the rest of his tears to fall.
