a few long months later. . .

You cried. That's all you could contemplate, at least. That, and the pain.

This had been going on for almost four hours now. You, strapped onto the soft white bed with a tunnel shaped piece of technology wrapped around you from your waist down. Your legs were spread, far enough for the midwife nurse to deliver your child.

Beside you, Kylo had stayed in shock the entire time. Now that you were physically giving birth, he was completely speechless. He offered you his hand and you took it gladly, however you wouldn't know just how hard you had squeezed him until after the delivery.

Luckily, the technology soothed some of the pain. That, and the presence of your Mother-in-law and of course Poe, Jahseh and Rey. Everybody was nervous, but in your mind they had no right to be. You were the one giving birth, after all.

The medical droid had said something, but you were far too dizzy to understand it. Kylo knelt down at the side of your bed, cupping your face in his hands. His eyes looked urgent as he said something important to you, but you couldn't decifer what he was saying.

Your eyes were only partially opened, lazily dangling in an almost awake almost asleep state. You could hear your heart beating in your chest as you felt yourself lose consciousness.

You were so close to fading out when Kylo's voice began to ring in your ears. You looked at him, studying his tear filled eyes. You understood now. He thought his dream was coming true. He thought his wife was dying.

"Y/N" his voice echoed in and out of your mind "Stay with me. don't let go, Y/N. You're going to be okay, I'm not going to let you go" Kylo seemed slightly more hopeful as he saw your eyes flutter. Noise began to make itself back to you as you heard the commotion of the room. Chattering urgent voices, quick beeping of the medical droids, everything.

God damnit. You still had to give birth.

a different droid's head looked over yours.

"it's coming!" It said in a calming, excited voice. You missed your head as you felt a pressure on your lower belly, and then the years returned.

You had not cried in pain for a long time. You did not scream, but the pain gradually increased as it felt as if you were being torn apart from the inside out. Soon, though, the pain seemed to numb. All you could feel was your tears slipping down the sides of your face.

things were going hazy once again. More commotion, but things were blurry. The pain was over, you knew that much. The Force itself had nursed you through your delivery. It had soothed your pain

you felt familiar hands on your cheeks and you snapped back to reality, no more haziness and certainly no more deafness. You sat up immediately, panting as you finally let go of Kylo's hands, revealing bleeding claw marks where your fingernails were. Kylo smiled to you, his eyes glossy.

"You are alive!" He said, still feeling over your skin as if he didn't believe it to be real. You smiled , but you wanted to see your baby

you looked up and saw everybody huddled into a corner, our of your sight. Rey was running back and forth, retrieving a new medical tool each time. You grew worried.

"Kylo? What's going on?" You asked, panting and tears still streaming down your face.

He didn't even look at you. He got up and walked to the commotion, obviously in a mix of emotions. You didn't care about that, though. You felt  sick. And then, you realized that you had not seen your child yet.

"Where is my kid" you mumbled out softly, nobody looking in your direction other than the medical droid. She was wiping your sweat and tears away with a cloth, but you pushed her away.

"Hey, can I see my kid?" You said, a little louder this time. Still to no avail. You furrowed your eyebrows and tried your best to ignore the lingering pain. They were denying you your child.

"She is cold. . . Her body temperature could drop." You heard Jahseh's voice say to the others, still not paying attention . Kylo cupped his mouth with his hands, and you didn't know if it was shock or sadness.

She? it's a she?

You had delivered a girl.

But you did not get to meet her first. And this infuriated you. You could hear her screaming and crying in obvious discomfort, but you were not able to be there to comfort her first.

"GIVE ME MY BABY!!" you screamed, louder than you had during the actual delivery. Everybody finally paid attention to you now.

Jahseh was the first to take action. You watched him pick her up from a small pillowed platform and then bring her to you. She was wrapped in a white blanket but she still screamed.

You took your baby from him and cradled her in your arms, knowing a smile was coming upon your face. Her crying came to an abrupt end along with her fidgeting. She stated up at You and You softly used your pointer finger to wipe away the wetness on her chubby sheeks. You couldn't stop smiling.

You felt Kylo's hands on you, and then saw him knelt down beside you. You looked at him, and then back down at her, and saw the resemblance.

"She has black hair. Just like you" you smiled as you studied the face of the newborn.

Something struck you.

"She is small. Why is she so small?" you demanded answers as you looked up to the group.

" She barely weighs five pounds" Jahseh replied. "It is too early to tell if it has anything to do with malnourishment"

"Why would she be malnourished? I ate fine!" You yelled back. You looked down at your child and found peace in her reposed face.

"She is most likely fine. As long as her weight catches up to her age, I'm proud to say that you have a healthy baby girl" he replied with a smile.

You sighed and laughed at the same time. You looked over to Kylo, and he was completely entranced by the small child with a big grin on his face.

"A girl!" He cooed " we have a baby girl!" He laughed and it almost brought tears back to your eyes.

You nodded. "Yeah. . .we do!" You used your finger to readjust a piece of black hair. There was still a reminiscence of blood, but her full head of bitch black hair overpowered it. She had the soft brown eyes to match her father's.

"Do you have a name picked out?" Rey asked you, kneeling down to view the child as if it were an exotic zoo animal.

you nodded, but Kylo spoke for you.

"We do." He said, his voice shaky. "Amaris. It means child of the moon" he went back to staring at the child.

"Its nice to meet you, Amaris Ren" you finally spoke softly.

still panting, you tried mumbling something to your baby but it came out a gibberish. You looked to Kylo again and kissed his cheek.

"You see, Ky? Sometimes bad dreams are just that. . .Dreams"
