It was one thing to go to school with your best friends, and be troublemakers, but it was a whole other thing to work with one of your best friends and still somehow manage to cause trouble.

When Remus had contacted you to tell you about him becoming a professor at Hogwarts, you were beyond happy for him – not even a week after that, Dumbledore contacted you to inform you of the Care of Magical Creatures post opening up, refusing to relent on the owls until you accepted the job.

During the time you had been teaching at Hogwarts, you had enjoyed it immensely, but you were grateful for no student having pried too much into your personal life.

You had been sat with Remus in his chambers for well over an hour – discussing the recent events of Sirius breaking out of Azkaban and the aftermath it had caused.
"Does Sirius write to you at all?"

You nodded in confirmation. "Every month or so the guards let him get a letter out, but I've not heard from him since the news of him breaking out – you still don't think he did it, do you?"

Remus sighed. "I don't know what to believe," he stated. "Y/N you can't deny that all evidence points toward him doing it, but then I have you telling me what he has been saying in his letters and that he says he is innocent."

Sirius was a sore spot with Remus, but you knew Sirius better than anyone so of course you believed him when he said he never hurt Lily and James.

You'd married Sirius a week after Lily and James' wedding, however only your close friends knew so Sirius couldn't be used against you and vice versa – that also meant the students at Hogwarts weren't to know of you being married or who you were married to.

"I never said I could disagree with what the evidence implies, but Remus he's my husband – I know him."

Remus sighed but nodded in defeat.

"I can't help but be worried about him."

"If I know Sirius at all, I know he'll be safe."

You smiled over at Remus. "You're my best friend Moony."

"Don't tell your husband that."

The next day, the news had spread through the castle that the infamous Sirius Black was in the castle.

Almost instantly you had gone to find Remus in his classroom, and when you found him he had the same panicked expression on his face as you.

"Have you heard?" you asked him.

He rolled his eyes. "I am still a Marauder – of course I know."

"What do we do?"

He sighed, going to grab his coat. "We go and look for him."

You groaned but knew that Remus' approach was best.

After almost an hour of looking around, and having to tell students to go away, you stumbled across a part of the castle where you figured Sirius would be.

"Padfoot?" you quizzed into the dark room.

You heard some deep breathing, causing Remus to cast Lumos and once the room was lit you saw your deathly pale and stick thin husband crouched in the corner of the room.

"Oh Sirius."

He looked over at you, and your heart broke at how fragile he seemed.

"Hi Love."

He smiled at your use of the petname before wincing as he held out his arms to you.

You went over to him, hugging him back as he held you.

"God you're a sight for sore eyes."

You smiled at your husband, leaning in to kiss him quickly before motioning to Remus.
Sirius cleared his throat as his gaze landed on Remus. "Moony, please, I promise you I'd never hurt them."

Remus nodded. "I know Pads, it was just difficult to believe with the craziness of this place."

After casting some charms on the room to make it more bearable, as you couldn't risk trying to get Sirius back to yours or Remus' chambers, the three of you were sat around and attempting to catch up.

"Remember when I first brought you to Grimmauld Place?" Sirius quizzed you, causing you to laugh and nod in response.

"Oh, you mean where your mother shouted at me for being a half blood? And I would taint your bloodline if we ever had children, not that you would ever want to reproduce with a half blood of course."

Remus was chuckling away, remembering his first trip to Grimmauld also but luckily enough the old hag was dead at that point.

"How about we go back and burn that portrait?"

Sirius smiled at you, pressing a kiss to the side of your head. "Merlin, I love how you think."
