You walked up the stairs to your dorm needing to get your quill and textbook to take to the library.

As it was a Saturday you had gone to Hogsmeade with your roommate Parvati, although you'd usually go with Lavender too, but she wanted to stay home. Hermione joined you too when you bumped into each other when looking for new scrolls of parchment. Even though it took some convincing on Parvati's part three of you agreed to go to the library and work together, along with Lavender if she wanted to join you.

The other two girls had bought new quills, so you told them to head to the library and you'd meet them there after you grabbed your stuff and asked Lavender if she wanted to come too.

Without knocking, you entered your dorm heading straight to your trunk to grab your stuff. Before you could open it, you were distracted by the sound of sobs. Turning towards Lavender's bed you saw her sat atop it, her hands wiping away the tears which fell against her cheeks.

"Lavender," you said softly, slowly making your way towards the frizzy haired girl.

"Oh... Y/N, I thought you and Parvati went to Hogsmeade," she whispered.

"We did but we're going to study with Hermione and wanted to see if you want to come."

"No thanks."

You gave her a sympathetic smile knowing she wouldn't want to discuss what upset her but you knew nothing would come from doing nothing.

"Are you okay?" You asked.

"Of course," she clearly lied.

"People don't cry when they are okay," you stated taking a seat next to her on her bed.

"I... I am fine," she said with a fake smile.

"Come on Lavender. I thought we were friends. You know you can always talk to me about anything," you smiled.

She hesitated for a moment before letting out a sigh.

"I'm sick of everything. I don't know how to cope anymore."

You cocked an eyebrow at her. "What do you mean?"

"Everyone expects me to be someone. To be someone who is happy and cheery all the time. It just feels impossible and I'm terrified. What if I fail at it and I disappoint someone?" She said in a hoarse whisper.

You gave her a warm smile before pulling her into a warm and caring embrace allowing her to cry softly onto your shoulder.

"It's okay Lavender. We all doubt ourselves sometime and get scared of hurting or letting down others, but it will all be okay."

She lifted her head gently to reveal her teary eyes.

"Thank you, Y/N."

"It's okay. I promise. You just need to accept yourself and do what is right for you, everyone else will soon accept you too."
