Examinations always made you nervous, but nowhere near as nervous as Hermione. Hermione, although one of the greatest witches of her age, was terrified of failing exams even though it was almost impossible for her to do so. She'd get terribly worried and start to second guess everything she knew, but now that you were preparing for you O.W.L.S. it had become significantly worse.

The two of you were sat on her bed in your shared dorm, books surrounding you as well as scrolls of notes, but none of it seemed to be assisting her.

"None of this makes sense," Hermione huffed. "I'm pretty sure Professor McGonagall has been marking my papers incorrectly, how could I be passing them perfectly with extra marks, when now I am retaining none of this."

"It's going to be okay 'Mione, you can do this," you smiled reassuringly.

She shook her head. "I'm stupid. I'm terribly stupid. Transfiguration was so simple last week in class but I'm going to fail my exams and I am going to be kicked out of Hogwarts and the wizarding world."

You rested your hand on her shoulder to attempt to calm her down. For someone so smart, she could be incredibly dumb when it came to acknowledging her intelligence. She was such a kind soul to anyone else, but to herself it was a different story. Hermione was her own worst enemy.

"You're not stupid," you stated. "If you were, what'd that make me?"

"No," she frowned. "You're intelligent, you always get good grades and you can do this revision without it hurting your head. What am I supposed to do Y/N? I'm going to fail my exams and then you're going to leave me because I'm an idiot and Harry and Ron will hate me and I'll have my wand broken because I don't deserve it..."

Hermione continued to ramble about unrealistic futures and how useless she was, even though you and everyone else begged to differ. You couldn't bear to listen to her telling you how stupid and useless she was, so the only way you could think to shut her up was by leaning in and pressing your lips to hers. She was shocked at first but at least it stopped her from rambling.

As you pulled away, she stayed silent, a small smile on her lips and a red hue on her cheeks.

"You're the smartest witch in Hogwarts, you are going to do great, please don't doubt yourself," you smiled sweetly.

"Thank you," she whispered.
