'Finally, everything is in place.' You thought to yourself as you cast your eyes over the dirty pans, vegetable peelings and splashes of sauce that littered the kitchen from top to bottom, you had just finished admiring your work when you heard the door open and Ginny walked in carrying a few bits and bobs. She turned white as a ghost and stopped in her tracks upon entering the kitchen.
"What the fuck have you been doing here?" She looked around at the globs of unidentifiable mush that stuck and hung from the ceiling and the walls.
"I was cooking something for dinner, come and have a taste." She tossed her keys and satchel onto the counter top, making sure to avoid any debris, and cautiously walked over.
"Do I get to know what it is first?" She peered over into the bubbling saucepan, in a vain attempt to figure out what wonders lurked inside, but you quickly threw the lid on top.
"Nope, blind taste test." A tea towel strewn on the counter made a perfect make-shift blindfold to cover her emerald eyes. A clean spoon was quickly sullied with the first specimen.
"Some kind of tomato sauce or something?" She was correct but the with the face she pulled, it may as well have been manure. "How many of these do I have to test?"
"Just a few." The next one gauged the same reaction.
"I need you to put your hands out for this one."
"You need me to put my hands out to test food?" Ginny never really seemed scared or particularly cautious about things, but she didn't seem too keen on this idea.
"Yeah... kinda."
"What is it?"
"Just trust me!" Her shaking hands hovered around her waist.
"If this is some kind of prank, I swear y/n I will destroy you."
From your back pocket you pulled out a small box, black and with an elegant gold inlay, within the box sat a humble ring.
"Are you ready?"
"Just do it already!"
You moved the ring towards her finger, at the first contact between polished silver and skin she flinched away, but you pushed the ring on and removed her blindfold.
"What do you think?" She stood open mouth just staring at her hand.
"Well it's no tomato sauce but yeah, it's nice." She had a smile that could not be wiped off, even when you told her that because you cooked, she could do the cleaning.
