For a fair while you hadn't left your dormitory, one of your roommates bringing you food or getting a house elf to help you with meals. You hadn't left your bed other than to use the toilet and maybe shower if you were desperate. You felt terrible about leaving the comfort of your bed as you just had no energy to do anything, so it was best for you to just stay there and hope the world wouldn't give up on you until you felt better, whenever that may be.
As a small step, you decided to spend your day in the common room, no one else spent much time in there due to classes and once dinner rolled around, you would return to your bed, only needing to see people when they traipsed in and out for a few moments in the day.
It was a nice moment to just be alone there in a different place to your dorm, but you certainly weren't in a good enough state to go to class. You had pulled your blanket down from your bed and wrapped it around yourself, letting the burning fire keep you warm. You didn't let your fellow Hufflepuffs bother you as they came through to go to their rooms or to leave the common room, grateful for their smiles and reassurance that nearly all of them did.
Although you tried your best to let people go on with their days, you heard someone knock at the common room door. It wasn't unusual for a first-year student to forget how to get in, but they kept knocking and it was hard to not pay attention to it. It persisted, so with an exasperated sigh, you made your way to the door with your blanket around you.
"For Merlin's sake, tickle the pear," you huffed, opening the door.
You expected an embarrassed first year but instead it was your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
"Professor Lupin?" You questioned. "What are you doing here?"
"I've been worried about you, you've missed a few classes and I've heard from Professor Sprout that you aren't doing too well," he explained.
"I guess you could say that I am struggling," you shrugged, letting him follow you back into the common room.
You had suffered with depression for a while, but this was one of the times that it affected you far worse than it would on a normal day to day basis.
"I want to help you out Y/N," he said softly. "You don't have to go through this alone and I know that sometimes it can feel like that. I don't mean to overstep my role as your professor, but I want to make sure that you can keep up this fight because it isn't going to get better on its own or with you working alone."
"I appreciate it professor," you smiled weakly. "It means a lot."
"You are going to be okay Y/N. I promise that."
