You were sat with Harry and Hermione in the Great Hall discussing the upcoming event from the Triwizard tournament, that Harry was a part of. He was rather terrified, whilst you and Hermione tried to be helpful however held the same nerves for his sake. It had been cancelled many years previously due to a student's death; you could only hope the same fate wouldn't befall your friend.

As the three of you chatted about it, Ginny supported a shocked Ron as she moved him towards the bench you were sat on. Ron's lips smacked together as though words were attempting to escape.

"What happened?" Hermione gasped, giving the redhead a look of concern.

"He asked Fleur Delacour to the ball," Ginny stated as Ron, still slack jawed, shuffled along the bench to make some distance between the two of you.

"Didn't it go well, mate?" You asked reaching out to pat his shoulder but he lurched away.

You held up your hand defensively, not sure what you had done to offend him but certainly not wanting to upset your close friend.

"No," Ginny said taking a seat between you and Ron, "She likes someone else. She told him she likes you, Y/N."

Your eyes widened. You hadn't really spoken too much to Fleur, she seemed way too out of your league but you were fond of her. However, you had no intentions of telling Ron that as you knew he liked her too and you had previously been sure she would have been more likely to like him than you.

Before you could apologise or argue the point to your friend, a gentle voice stopped you.

"Y/N," the French accent practically sung, "may I speak with you?"

You were hesitant but with a shove to the arm from Ginny, you rose from your seat and walked to the side of the room with her. She was beyond stunning and had a kind personality, from what you knew of her she seemed practically perfect.

"I am sorry about your friend," she smiled softly. "I do not think he took it well that I do not care for him how he does me."

"He'll get over it," you gently said, pushing a lock of your hair behind your ear.

"However, on the point, I do wish to ask you if you'd like to go to the ball with me. I understand if you do not like me, but I wish to ask nevertheless."

You couldn't help but beam at the thought, although the joy faltered at the thought of Ron feeling betrayed by you. You'd never wish to stand on his toes like this. Glancing towards the table you had been sat at previously you saw Ron glaring in your direction. That seemed to answer the question but Ginny punched his arm, giving you a thumb up indicating that you should agree.

"I would love to go with you Fleur," you smiled. "I cannot wait."
