You'd always thought that you could be a relatively self-sufficient person. That you could do essentially everything without help, or at least having to ask for help.

For some reason you'd always hated asking people for help, you felt as if you were inconveniencing them or that they didn't really want to help you.

It was pretty obvious that people were struggling after the war – trying to get back to normality, trying to figure out how to even function again.

During the war, and beforehand, you'd been going out with Dean Thomas, you'd been happy with him despite the whole impending death kind of situation.

It was through Ginny that you'd met him after they'd given things a go and it hadn't quite worked out.

But it was also through Ginny that you'd met the twins, even though you were in the same year as Ginny you'd grown quite close to the twins and loved them to bits.

You couldn't deny that you'd always had a relatively big crush on George but when they'd left to open up their shop, you'd thought it best to try and move on a little bit.

And you had with Dean but after the war cracks started to show and the twins could see how upset you were getting.

You'd moved in with Dean whilst you tried to find an apartment but after an argument ending in the two of you essentially breaking up, you had to find somewhere else to go.

That lead you to being outside the twin's flat, at god knows what time in the morning, with pretty much all of your belongings in your backpack panicking because you didn't want to bother them.

You knocked on their front door and Fred came to the door in his pyjamas looking very confused at you being stood on his doorstop.

When he saw the tear tracks down your cheeks, he didn't question you and just moved to the side so that you could go in.

"Y/N/N?" George questioned sleepily as he came out of his bedroom.

You gave him a weak smile and didn't even have a chance to drop your bag before you were in a bone crushing hug from your favourite twin.

The pure comfort of the weight of him hugging you made you breakdown all over again.

You weren't even that upset over the breakup, it had been coming for months and Dean had found someone else already anyway, so you were happy for him.

You were crying for the people you lost, for the childhood you lost and for the fact that getting back to normal was just so insanely difficult.

Over your shoulder George motioned to Fred that he was going to take you into his room as Fred knew how George felt for you, but you didn't know.

George gently moved his hands to pick you up at the waist so that you could wrap your arms and your legs around him, meaning he could carry you easily without disturbing you too much.

Once George got into his room, he placed you onto his bed and took your bag away from you whilst you attempted to compose yourself.

It was then that you realised George wasn't even wearing a top so that embarrassed you a fair bit.

"Oh, George I'm so sorry," you shakily said as you curled in on yourself. "I shouldn't have come here."

George sighed as he saw you essentially crumble in front of you, but he made his way over to the bed to sit next to you.

He pulled you into his arms and let you cry for as long as you needed to, but once you'd started to calm down, he pulled away from you.

"Will you tell me what happened?" he asked gently.

You nodded, taking a deep breath. "Dean and I had an argument, he's actually seeing someone else, I had to leave, and I'm just so done with everything."

As much as George wanted to go and knock Dean out, he knew he shouldn't. "So, he cheated on you?"

"Essentially yes," you admitted with a sigh. "But I can't blame him – we weren't working, we argued all the time and it just got too much."

George sighed as he saw your side of things and he should've been ashamed at the glimmer of hope that shot through him at possibly getting a chance with you.

You ran a hand through your hair. "I'm sorry for coming here," you breathed out as you eventually wiped the tear tracks from your cheeks. "I didn't really think, I just apparated and I found myself here."

"Don't you ever apologise for coming here," George told you with finality. "You know you always have a place here; I'd be crazy to ever turn you away."

Smiling, you leant over to kiss his cheek. "That's why you're my favourite twin."
