Finally, it was time to film the rumble. And everyone was ready, stretching their arms, lighting the campfire, filming warmups.
"I'd like to say something about the rumble tonight," Emilio said to Christine's camera. Cruise ran up behind him and flexed his arms behind Emilio's shoulders.
"What's going on?" Emilio said.
"I swear when people get hurt tonight..." I mumbled to myself.
"Do you want to make your announcement now?" Francis said as he was passing by.
"Ugh, okay, yes. Matt! Come help me get on the truck!" I shouted. Matt ran over and scooped me up onto the back of the movie truck.
"OKAY! LISTEN UP! LISTEN UP! MATT, TURN OFF YOUR BOOMBOX!" I screamed over the chatter. Everyone soon shut up once Matt turned off Tommy's mixtape
"OKAY! DO I HAVE EVERYONE'S ATTENTION? CRUISE! SHUT UP! I'M TALKING! OKAY! TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT OF THE RUMBLE AND YOU BOYS ARE GONNA GET HURT! MY TENT'S OVER THERE SO WHEN ONE OF YOUR LIPS BUSTS OR YOU GET A BLACK EYE, COME SEE THE TENT WITH THE BIG RED CROSS ON IT, ALRIGHT?!" I screamed. Every head in sight nodded.
"ALRIGHT, THANK YOU!" I said before hopping down in Matt's arms.
"Hey, babe, tonight's probably gonna be the last night my face isn't covered in makeup or my eye isn't black so give me a kiss," he said, handling my waist.
"I love you," I said, biting his upper lip.
"Okay, okay, okay, Places everybody, places."
***********
"DON'T YOU KNOW A RUMBLE AINT A RUMBLE WITHOUT ME?!" Matt hollered, dashing into the scene and the first punch was thrown towards Tommy and he immediately fell in the dirt. All the boys matched themselves up with their stunt man and did whatever move they practiced: kick, punch, pull. And it started to rain, but Francis refused to cut. The boys didn't even hesitate but to use the mud to their advantage: throwing themselves in it, slapping it on each other. Tommy had barely risen up, but was thrown around. It became cold as the rain fell and Susie and I huddled under a poncho. After the boys fought for a while, Francis said, "Now surrender! Leave! Run!" The Socs got up and scurried in the opposite direction when Francis yelled cut.
"Okay, is anyone hurt?!" I yelled from underneath the poncho.
"Tommy is!" Rob yelled.
"Okay, come here, Tommy," I said. Rob helped him up and Tommy made his way towards me.
"Aw, crap," I said, inspecting his face. His lip was busted up and his eye looked bruised.
"What?" Susie slid her glasses on and look at his lip.
"May need two or three stitches," Susie said.
"Okay, come here," I said, guiding Tommy to the tent.
"Hey, babe, I'm hurt!" Matt yelled.
"Are you really?!" I yelled over the chatter.
"Yes! I got blood!"
"Okay, come here!" I yelled, while threading the hook. I stuck the hook under his lip, and put the needle through.
"Here. Right here," Matt came up and pointed to underneath his eye.
"Matt, there's nothing wrong with you," I said.
"Oh, yeah?" He bent down and moved closer. I squinted and looked at Tommy's lip, pulling the needle through again.
"Why is this thread clear?" Tommy asked.
"So that when they film you, you don't see it," I said.
"Do you see it? Do you see this blood under my eye?" Matt said.
"Matt, stop, you're aggravating," I said, sticking the needle underneath Tommy's lip and yanking it up again.
"Hey," Matt kissed my cheek.
"Stop. If I mess up, I'm screwed!" I said.
"Stop," I said after he kissed me again.
"Okay, I'm done. What, Matt? What is it?" I said. Matt moved in closer and kissed me again. I stroked his cheek with my thumb and smiled.
"Leave me alone," I said.
"Fine. But when you don't get any tonight, don't get upset," he said. I lightly tapped his cheek with my palm and looked at Tommy's lip.
"It should be good for a couple days," I said.
"Thanks, Essie," he said. I kissed Tommy's cheek and he got up to leave.
"What about me for a couple days?" Matt said, taking Tommy's seat and grabbing the side of my thighs.
"Jesus, what's with you?" I said in between kisses.
"I just really love you," he said, tucking his lower lip in between both of mine.
"You're just turned on," I said.
"I don't know why, but I am," he said, moving his hands from my thighs to my back and clung to my clothes.
"Places! We're gonna do this again," Francis yelled.
"Okay, Dallas Winston," I said, backing up and sliding my hand down his bare chest.
"I love it when you do that," he whispered and kissed my jaw.
"Stop. Go," I said.
"I'll go," he said.
"Jesus, Matt, go take your place," I said.
"I love you so much," he said, biting my lower lip.
"MATT! STOP AND TAKE YOUR PLACE!" Francis yelled.
"See, now you're in trouble," I said.
"Okay," he said, kissing me over and over and tugging at my hair. I laughed and kissed him one last time before he took his place.
