"Wait, wait, so you actually caught the bedskirt on fire?" Rob said in between laughs.
"Yes!" Matt said.
"Well what did the hotel say?" Rob said.
"They called Tim and Tim almost threatened to take me off the movie," Matt said. Everyone settled down and stopped laughing.
"I remember when Essie called me and told me she was going steady with Matt," Christine said.
"What'd she say?" Rob asked.
"She said Christine, I met this guy on the set of Tex and he's the star. His name is Matt Dillon. And I was like that name sounds really familiar. And she said yeah he was in Little Darlings and Over the Edge. And I said I LOVE OVER THE EDGE WHICH ONE WAS HE and she said Richie, the guy with the long hair and was shot. And I was like him? Really? Why? Why would you go steady with him?"
Rob laughed.
"Ha-ha. For your information, I'm not told proud of my performance then."
"Yeah, I see it."
"Have you've seen Over the Edge I said to Rob?"
"No."
"Oh you have to," Christine said.
"You're really good," I said to Matt.
"Can you stop?"
"Can you stop talking about it?"
I stopped and looked to my right. Tommy was pushing the food around on his plate.
"How you doin', Tommy? You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine."
"Are you sure? Come walk with me," I said. He immediately stood up but Matt grabbed my hand.
"Essie..."
"Matt, nothing's gonna happen. I promise if anything does, I'll tell you," I said.
"Okay. Gimme a kiss," I did and ran after Tommy.
"What's going on, Tommy?" I said.
"Nothing. It's just hard."
"Hard doing what?"
"Being here. Away from my friends and family," he said.
"Well you got your friends here," I said.
"Yeah who? Ralph fights with me, Robs always off with Christine, Emilio and Tom are together, Patrick likes being with adults. I'm a little alone here."
"You got me."
"You're with Matt all the time."
"Well do you wanna hang out? Go to a movie or something?" I realized how that sounded.
"I mean if Matt will let you."
"Whoa whoa whoa, Matt will 'let' me do whatever the hell I want. If you want to go to a movie, then we can go to a movie. You wanna do something?"
"Yeah. Do you want to go down to Roger's and get a burger later?"
"Tomorrow night?"
"Sure."
"Ok."
"Leave here at 7?"
"Sure."
"It's a date."
