I knocked on Matt's hotel room with the hand I had free.
"Who is it?" He said.
"Essie."
"Oh, hold on," he said before unlatching the door and opening it up. He was in his boxers and a black t shirt.
"What are you doing here? You haven't talked to me all day," he said. After the discussion we had yesterday, I decided by myself that I would keep my distance today during filming and Francis told Matt to take off early because they had some discussion in the silverfish (the trailer we used to watch footage in) earlier today.
"I thought after the discussion yesterday that I would keep my distance," I said. He still hadn't let me in.
"I brought you this," I showed him the sundae I got. He was still silent.
"You're not mad at me, are you? Come on, I just wanna talk to you,"I said. He moved out of the door and closed it behind me. He had a TV table set up by the bed.
"What'd you want to talk to me about?" He asked as I put his sundae on the table.
"I don't know..." I said. He sat down on the bed and I did too.
"Look, if you're upset with me-"
"I'm not upset with you, Matt. I think you're mad at me."
"No, I've just Been really worn out," he said.
"Oh."
"I was trying to get some shut eye before you knocked. And I was gonna clean this place up," he said. Pillows and sheets and clothes and socks and sneakers and script covers were strewn all over the place.
"Well, I mean, I can clean up while you get some sleep," I said. He smiled. Yes!
"Okay. Just talk to me first," he said.
"Well....I guess I just wanted to tell you a couple things I don't usually tell you. Like... The minute I laid my eyes on you, I knew I loved you. And it wasn't just because you were attractive but I don't know...maybe your dedication to the business and everything just kind of got me, you know? And I know we're actually not these lovey dovey people even though some may disagree. But when you just kind of shrugged me off the other day....I don't know. It worried me like I don't think you know I love you," I said.
"No, I do, Essie. It's just yesterday I was really sensitive I don't know why. Probably cause I was nervous about the first day of filming," he said, prying open the plastic lid of the sundae.
"I don't know, Matt. I love you, alright? I'm serious. I didn't try to blow you off or anything the other day. I just thought you really didn't need to change anything for me," I said.
"Uh-huh."
"Matt, look at me," I said. He faced me.
"I love you so much, okay? If you ever forget it, tell me."
"Okay," he kissed me.
"Do you want to get some sleep?"
"Yeah, I'll get some," he said before laying back down. Suddenly I couldn't breathe, my lungs weren't inflating or anything. I grabbed Matt's hand.
"What's wrong? Essie? Essie!"
