Close your eyes and imagine this:
You and Mikey walk into a fancy resturant. He was planning on taking you to a dance, but you declined as that's not really where you like to hang out.
Feeling bad for Mikey, you hold his hand under the table. He looks up, faking a smile.
"Is everything okay?" You ask, giving his hand a squeeze. He slightly nods, then looks down at the floor. "Today is.. the anniversary of.. grandma. And.. she loved to go to dances..."
Standing up, you tell the waiter that you two need to go somewhere else. Mikey looks up, and says in a whisper outside, "No- you didn't have to do that..."
"Yes, I did." You say, grabbing his wrist and dragging him towards the car. "I want to see you happy, I want to see you smile. I don't want to see you pulling a pokerface up on me, and say that you're okay when you're not."
You started the engine, and head over to the place that Mikey planned for you two to go to.
Looking out the window, he then turns back to you. "If we're gonna go in there, I want to give you something so you'll fit in." He opens the trunk and grabs a box, then goes back inside the car and hands the box to you.
The box was black, and it was held with a red ribbon. Undoing the ribbon, you open the box and your eyes widen.
It was a black and red masquerade mask, lying on top of the same colored dress.
"My grandma said to give them to the one I loved eternally, which is you." He said, smiling.
Setting the box aside, you give him a hug.
